Mondawmin Metro Subway Station
Mondawmin station is a Metro SubwayLink station in Baltimore, Maryland. It is located under the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue in the Mondawmin neighborhood, adjacent to the Mondawmin Mall. It is the northernmost underground station on the line, and a major transfer point to many bus routes. Mondawmin station serves Mondawmin Mall, Coppin State University, Druid Hill Park, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, and the Lower Park Heights neighborhood. On the surface, a bus loop connects to Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue. This loop and the adjacent streets are used by a number of bus routes, many of which terminate in it. Several routes were cut back to Mondawmin on June 18, 1984, about seven months after the station opened, and Routes M-1, M-2, and M-3 were formed at that time to replace the portions of those routes beyond Mondawmin. Death Of Freddie Gray
On April 12, 2015, Freddie Carlos Gray Jr., a 25-year-old African American, was arrested by the Baltimore Police Department for possession of a knife. While in police custody, Gray sustained fatal injuries and was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Gray's death on April 19, 2015, was ascribed to injuries to his cervical spinal cord. Pending an investigation of the incident, six Baltimore police officers were suspended. Commissioner Anthony W. Batts reported that officers had not secured Gray inside the van while driving to the police station, contrary to a policy that had been put into effect six days prior to Gray's arrest. The medical examiner's office concluded that Gray's death could not be ruled an accident, and was instead a homicide, because officers failed to follow safety procedures. CityLink Pink (abbreviated PK) is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. The line currently runs from Cedonia in northeast Baltimore to the West Baltimore MARC station. Reservoir Hill
Reservoir Hill is a historic neighborhood in the city of Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is located south of Druid Hill Park, north of Bolton Hill, east of Penn-North, and west of Jones Falls. The Greater Baltimore Bus Initiative (GBBI) (pronounced ''GIBBY'') was a sweeping overhaul planned by the Maryland Transit Administration under the administration of then-Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich and his transportation secretary Robert Flanagan (politician), Robert Flanagan that was said to be the largest single-phase overhaul in the history of the agency and its parent companies. The bus route was formerly operated as a shuttle service, known as the Mondawmin Shuttle Bug or Mondawmin Shuttle, as one of two neighborhood shuttle routes operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. It was the second and is so far the final in the series of shuttle bus routes to be introduced by MTA in the 2000s.
