Monaco Media Diffusion
Monaco Media Diffusion (MMD) is a joint-stock company established in 1994. MMD is the only licensee for broadcasting radio and television in Monaco. The national company operates transmitters and distributes licenses and frequencies in consultation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The MMD network broadcasts both digitally, on the FM band, longwave and medium wave from several locations in Monaco and Southern France. MMD is run by a board of six members. The channels associated with MMD, 23 stations on 30 frequencies, broadcast around the clock and cover the coastal area between Cannes and the border with Italy. Monaco City
Monaco City (french: Monaco-Ville) is the southcentral ward in the Principality of Monaco. Located on a headland that extends into the Mediterranean Sea, it is nicknamed The Rock (french: Le Rocher). The name "Monaco City" is misleading: it is not itself a city, but a historical and statistical district. TMC (; originally short for Télé Monte-Carlo) is a Franco– Monégasque general entertainment television channel, owned by the French media holding company Groupe TF1. History The oldest private channel in Europe, TMC dates back to 1954, inaugurated by Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. Like several other European television channels, its first major broadcast was one relating to the country's reigning dynasty, in this case the marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly.
