Mohammed Waheed Hassan
Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik (; born 3 January 1953) is a Maldivian politician who served as president of the Maldives from 7 February 2012 to 17 November 2013, having succeeded to the office following the resignation of President Mohamed Nasheed, under whom he served as Vice President. He had previously worked as a news anchor, a teacher, a principle, a United Nations international civil servant with UNICEF, UNDP and UNESCO, and as a member of the Maldivian Parliament. He assumed the office of president on 7 February 2012, following the resignation of the incumbent, Mohamed Nasheed. Initially, Nasheed claimed that a coup d'état had occurred, however these claims were proved to be false by an independent report from the Commission of National Inquiry. Television Maldives
Television Maldives (TVM) is the public service broadcasting TV channel of the Maldives. It was formed on 29 March 1978. History The station started broadcasting on 29 March 1978 to a very limited audience, 90 television sets around the capital Male. The station broadcast on VHF channel 7 with an ERP of 1KW. In 1994, a second channel, TVM Plus, started broadcasting, which relied upon subscriptions. By the 2000s, the Maldives had more than 60,000 television sets and TVM Plus was available in close to 2,000 households. Until the launch of DhiTV in 2008, TVM held a virtual monopoly on local television. Abdulla Shahid, (; born 26 May 1962) is a Maldivian politician who served as President of the United Nations General Assembly, President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly between 2021 and 2022 and is the current president of the Maldivian Democratic Party. Shahid is the first Maldivian politician to hold that post. He had served as Minister of Foreign Affairs (Maldives), minister of foreign affairs from 2018 to 2023. Jamaluddin School is a government run school located in Machangolhi district, Malé, Maldives. It is the second Primary School to be opened in Malé. The school has participated and won in many interschool competitions. History The foundation of the school was laid down on 11 November 1979 by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Jamaluddin was inaugurated on 16 February 1985 by President Gayoom. The school is named after religious scholar Mohamed Jamaaluddin. It was opened as Jamaluddin Primary School. 2013 Maldivian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in the Maldives on 7, 9 and 16 November 2013. The first round was held on 7 September. As no candidate received a majority, a second round was planned to be held in 28 September between the candidates who received the most votes in the first round, former President Mohamed Nasheed (who was contesting in the election following his controversial resignation, which he and many claimed was a coup d'état amidst the 2011–12 Maldives political crisis) and Abdulla Yameen, paternal half-brother of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The Commission of National Inquiry was an independent body established by President of the Maldives, president Mohamed Waheed Hassan on 21 February 2012 to investigate the events that occurred in the Maldives from 14 January–8 February 2012. This also included the controversial resignation of Mohamed Nasheed which he claims was a coup.
