Mitt Liv
Norway was represented by Kate Gulbrandsen, with the song "Mitt liv", at the 1987 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 9 May in Brussels. "Mitt liv" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 28 February. Before Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix 1987 The MGP was held at the Château Neuf in Oslo, hosted by Eldbjørg Vaage. Ten songs took part in the final, with the winner chosen by voting from seven regional juries. Other participants included 1981 Norwegian entrant Finn Kalvik and Tor Endresen, making the first of seven appearances at MGP before finally being successful on his eighth attempt in 1997. At Eurovision On the night of the final Gulbrandsen performed first in the running order, preceding Israel. At the close of voting "Mitt liv" had picked up 65 points (the highest a 10 from Sweden), placing Norway 9th of the 22 entries. The Norwegian jury awarded its 12 points to Yugoslavia. Kate Gulbrandsen
Kate Gulbrandsen (born 6 August 1965 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian singer. In 1986 she represented Norway at the Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo with the song "Carnival". She won the Norwegian national final Melodi Grand Prix 1987 in a very close regional vote, giving her the opportunity to compete for Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with the song "Mitt liv" (My Life), written by Rolf Løvland and Hanne Krogh. She went on to place ninth overall. Gulbrandsen tried to represent Norway again in 1989, singing "Nærhet" (Closeness) at the Melodi Grand Prix, although was unplaced. The song was rerecorded by Gulbrandsen in 1991, with a slightly different arrangement. Her version of Jørn Hansen's "Med gullet for øyet" was the official song of the 1998 Winter Paralympics in Nagano, Japan. Jonas Fjeld
Jonas Fjeld (born Terje Lillegård Jensen; 24 September 1952) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known in the English-speaking world for two albums recorded by Danko/Fjeld/Andersen, a collaboration with Canadian Rick Danko of The Band and American singer-songwriter Eric Andersen. Fjeld also recorded three albums with the American bluegrass group Chatham County Line. Biography Fjeld took his stage name from the principal character of a series of novels written by Øvre Richter Frich. Although he was born in Bodø, he moved with his family to Drammen, Norway when he was a child. Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. Frank Aleksandersen (born 30 May 1953, in Namsos) is a Norwegian singer, drummer and lyricist. For a while, he was the drummer for the jazz-inspired band Vanessa. He is the cousin of the trønderrocker Åge Aleksandersen. As a 17-year-old, he moved to Oslo to become a hairdresser.
