Miss Universe 1955
Miss Universe 1955 was the fourth Miss Universe pageant, held at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States on 22 July 1955. This was the first time that the pageant was televised. At the end of the event, Miriam Stevenson of the United States crowned Hillevi Rombin of the Sweden as Miss Universe 1955. It was the first victory of Sweden in the history of the pageant. Contestants from thirty-three countries and territories competed in this edition. The pageant was hosted by Bob Russell. Bob Russell (television Presenter)
Bob Russell (January 1, 1908 – January 24, 1998) was an United States, American entertainer, best known for hosting the Miss America beauty contest, pageant during the years of 1940 to 1946, 1948 to 1950 and 1954. He also served as Master of Ceremonies, emcee for the Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Canada pageants. Biography Bob Russell's father was a Russian-born baker. His family moved to New York City, New York at age nine and he began his career appearing in Broadway theatre, Broadway musicals in the 1920s. In the 1930s, he moved on to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, where he became a local star as the singing master of ceremonies at the elegant Cafe Marguery in the old Adelphia Hotel. Miss USA 1953 was the second Miss USA pageant, held at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California on July 16, 1953. Myrna Hansen (born August 5, 1934) is an American actress, model, and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss USA 1953. Education Hansen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Hansen. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, Illinois, in June 1953. Margit Nünke (15 November 1930, in Szczecin, Stettin – 10 January 2015, in Munich) was a German actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder.
