Lloyd Bacon
Lloyd Francis Bacon (December 4, 1889 – November 15, 1955) was an American screen, stage and vaudeville actor and film director. As a director he made films in virtually all genres, including westerns, musicals, comedies, gangster films, and crime dramas. He was one of the directors at Warner Bros. in the 1930s who helped give that studio its reputation for gritty, fast-paced "torn from the headlines" action films. And, in directing Warner Bros.' '' 42nd Street'', he joined the movie's song-and-dance-number director, Busby Berkeley, in contributing to "an instant and enduring classic hattransformed the musical genre." Blanche Friderici
Blanche L. Friderici (January 21, 1878 – December 23, 1933) was an American film and stage actress, sometimes credited as Blanche Frederici. Early years Friderici was a native of Brooklyn, New York. Her parents were William E. Friderici and Rosetta Elizabeth Freeman Friderici. Career Friderici did not aspire to be an actress, but rather an acting and elocution teacher. However, her eyesight began to fail, deteriorating to the point she could no longer read, so she turned from teaching acting to actually acting. An admirer of her recitals introduced her to impresario David Belasco, who cast her in ''The Darling of the Gods''. Between 1914 and 1927, Friderici appeared in nine Broadway theatre productions in New York City, including a production of ''39 East'' (1919) and as Mrs. Davidson in the play ''Rain''. ''The Nurse's Secret'' is a 1941 murder mystery film directed by Noel M. Smith and starring Lee Patrick as a crime-solving nurse. The supporting cast features Regis Toomey and Julie Bishop. The film, which includes a rare leading role for Patrick who played the supporting part of Sam Spade's secretary in '' The Maltese Falcon'' that same year, is a remake of the film Miss Pinkerton and is based on the 1932 novel ''Miss Pinkerton'' by Mary Roberts Rinehart. Rinehart wrote a series of novels based on the character Hilda Adams. She is, however, most famous for her play " The Bat" which inspired Batman creator Bob Kane to create his famous comic book character.
