Miss Brazil 2017
Miss Brazil 2017 ( pt, Miss Brasil 2017), officially Miss Brazil Be Emotion 2017 ( pt, Miss Brasil Be Emotion 2017), was the 63rd edition of the Miss Brazil pageant. It was held on 19 August 2017 at the Vermelhos Theater in Ilhabela, São Paulo, Brazil and was hosted by Cássio Reis with Rayza Nicácio as a backstage correspondent. Raissa Santana of Paraná crowned her successor Monalysa Alcântara of Piauí at the end of the event. Alcântara represented Brazil at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant and placed in the Top 10. Monalysa Maria Alcântara Nascimento (born 24 January 1999) is a Brazilian model and beauty pageant titleholder, who was crowned Miss Brasil 2017, becoming the first representative from Piauí and the third woman of Afro-Brazilian origin to win the crown. She represented Brazil at Miss Universe 2017, where she placed in the top ten. Pirenópolis is a town located in the Brazilian state of Goiás. It is known for its waterfalls and Portuguese colonial architecture, and a popular festival involving mounted horses called Festa do Divino Espírito Santo which takes place 45 days after Easter. Miss Brazil World 2016 was the 27th edition of the Miss Brazil World pageant and the 2nd under CNB Miss Brazil. The contest took place on June 25, 2016. Each state, the Federal District and various Insular Regions & Cities competed for the title. Catharina Choi of Ilhabela crowned her successor, Beatrice Fontoura of Goiás at the end of the contest.
