Minor Party Alliance
The Minor Party Alliance (MPA), also known simply as the Alliance, is an alliance of small Australian political parties, currently active in Victorian state politics. It was created by Glenn Druery's "Independent Liaison" business, which assists in organising preference meetings and negotiating preference flows between minor parties (also referred to as micro-parties). The aim of the MPA is the election of its candidates to Australian upper houses, based upon the accumulation of their primary votes and the registered "above-the-line" (or "group voting ticket") party preferences to reach an electoral quota. The MPA effectively aims to "game" the electoral system, an act it believes to be justified, based upon their perception that the Australian electoral system is unfair and heavily biased against minor parties. Glenn Druery
Glenn William Druery is an Australian political strategist, electoral campaigner and ultra-distance cyclist. He has played a leading role in the electoral success of various micro and minor parties in Australia since the mid-1990s. He acquired a reputation through his Minor Party Alliance as the "preference whisperer" of Australian politics. As of March 2025, he is the chief of staff for Australia's Voice senator Fatima Payman. Cycling After overcoming a serious illness in his 30s, Druery competed in the Race Across America (RAAM) four times, in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2012. Outdoor Recreation Party
The Outdoor Recreation Party (ORP) was a minor political party originating in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. It professed to represent the outdoor community and interests such as cycling, bushwalking, camping, kayaking, 4WD motoring, skiing, fishing and shooting. It was formally allied with the Liberal Democratic Party. History In 1996 Glenn Druery was instrumental in the formation of the ORP in New South Wales, with Malcolm Jones as president. Family First Party
The Family First Party was a conservative political party in Australia which existed from 2002 to 2017. It was founded in South Australia where it enjoyed its greatest electoral support. Since the demise of the Australian Conservatives into which it merged, it has been refounded in that state as the Family First Party (2021). Family First had three candidates elected to the Senate during its existence— Steve Fielding (2005–2011), Bob Day (2014–2016), and Lucy Gichuhi (2017; elected on a countback following Day being declared ineligible). Bob Day
Robert John Day (born 5 July 1952) is an Australian former politician and businessman who was a Senator for South Australia from 1 July 2014 to 1 November 2016. He is a former federal chairman of the Family First Party. Before entering politics, he worked in the housing industry, owning several businesses, and at one stage serving as president of the Housing Industry Association. Day was the Liberal Party's candidate for the federal seat of Makin at the 2007 election, but resigned from the party after failing to gain preselection for the 2008 Mayo by-election. He subsequently joined the Family First Party and was their candidate for the by-election, later becoming their lead Senate candidate in South Australia at the 2010 election and 2013 election. The Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party was a political party in Australia from 2013 to 2017. Ricky Muir held a seat for the party in the Australian Senate from 2013 to 2016. The party voluntarily de-registered with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) on 8 February 2017. Ricky Lee Muir (born 25 December 1980) is an Australian politician who served as a Australian Senate, Senator for Victoria (Australia), Victoria from 2014 to 2016. Muir was elected to the Senate at the 2013 Australian federal election, 2013 federal election, standing for the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party (AMEP). The Australian Sports Party was a registered federal political party of Australia formed in 2013 and officially deregistered in August 2015. Wayne Dropulich (born 1970 or 1971) is an Australian former politician who was elected to the Senate as a member of the Australian Sports Party in the final count of the 2013 federal election prior to the Western Australian Senate count being declared void by the Court of Disputed Returns.
