The Minister for Social Care ( cy, Y Gweinidog Gofal Cymdeithasol) is a minister of the Welsh Government, accountable to the Welsh Cabinet, cabinet Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care (Wales), cabinet secretary for health and social care. Dawn Alison Louise Bowden (born 14 February 1960) is a British Labour Party politician and trade unionist serving as Chief Whip of the Welsh Government and Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport since 2021. First Drakeford Government
The First Drakeford government was a Labour-led government formed after the resignation of Carwyn Jones as First Minister of Wales on 12 December 2018, and the subsequent appointment of Mark Drakeford in his place following a leadership contest. The government was also supported by the sole Welsh Liberal Democrat MS Kirsty Williams and the independent MS Dafydd Elis-Thomas. Drakeford's first term as First Minister is known for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Julie Morgan (née Edwards; 2 November 1944) is a Welsh Labour Party politician, who has been a Member of the Senedd for Cardiff North seat in the Senedd since the 2011 election. Ifor Huw Irranca-Davies (né Davies; born 22 January 1963) is a Welsh Labour and Co-operative politician, who has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Ogmore since 2016. He was previously the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ogmore from 2002 to 2016. Having served as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Northern Ireland Office, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, he became an Assistant Whip in May 2006. The third Jones government was a Labour– Liberal Democrat coalition government formed after the results of the 2016 general election in Wales. On 14 October 2016, Dafydd Elis-Thomas left Plaid Cymru in order to support the coalition government and to give them a ruling majority; he later sat as an independent in the Senedd. Second Jones Government
The second Jones government (11 May 2011 – 19 May 2016) was a Labour minority government. Having won the largest number of seats in the 2011 general election (30 out of 60) the Labour sought to form a minority government, having previously governed in coalition with Plaid Cymru. Carwyn Jones was re-elected First Minister in May 2011 and continued to serve up to and beyond the 2016 election. During the five years of this government there were two significant reshuffles (March 2013 and September 2014) as well as two departures from the Cabinet, both of which led to widespread changes in personnel and in ministerial titles and responsibilities.
