Midtbyen (Aarhus)
Midtbyen (lit. "The Mid-town"), also known as Aarhus Center or City, is the inner part of Aarhus. Midtbyen is part of district Aarhus C, mainly with postal code 8000, together with Vesterbro, Nørre Stenbro Trøjborg and Frederiksbjerg and has a population of around 90000. Midtbyen is characterized by narrow, winding, cobbled streets and a busy street life, with many small squares, cafés and shops. Parts of the old town center has been saved and protected from destructive modern development and can be experienced in the neighbourhood of Latinerkvarteret, but old individual listed houses are scattered all across Midtbyen. A large part of the area is carfree and the neighborhood has been increasingly pedestrianised. The square of Store Torv (lit.: ''large square'') in front of the cathedral, forms a natural centre of the large pedestrian zone. Ryesgade, Aarhus
Ryesgade is a 240-meter-long street in Aarhus, Denmark. It is located in the central Indre by, Aarhus, Town Center neighborhood and runs south to north from ''Banegårdsplads, Aarhus, Banegårdspladsen'' to ''Søndergade, Aarhus, Søndergade'' and provides access to ''Rosenkrantzgade''. Ryesgade is today one the busiest commercial pedestrianized streets in Denmark. Aarhus Cathedral
Aarhus Cathedral () is a cathedral in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the longest and tallest church in the country, at in length and in height. The construction of Aarhus Cathedral began in the 12th century and it is the main edifice of the diocese of Aarhus for the Church of Denmark, dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, St Clemens. AarBus (until 2021 ''Busselskabet Aarhus Sporveje'', colloquially known as ''Aarhus Sporveje'') is a bus company operating in Jutland, Denmark. It is the primary bus operator in the city and municipality of Aarhus and the former municipal bus operator of Aarhus Municipality. The company maintains all bus operations in Aarhus Municipality through 3 contracts with the Central Denmark Region public transit organization Midttrafik. Scandinavian Center
Scandinavian Center is a convention center in Aarhus, Denmark situated in the Midtbyen neighborhood at the city square of ''Margrethepladsen''. Scandinavian Center was finished in 1995 by designs of the architect practice Friis & Moltke in a modern style. Today, the building is privately owned and used for various activities such a conventions, hotel and businesses. The building is a well-known landmark in central Aarhus, situated in ''Eckersbergsgade''. Architecture The convention center is situated on hilly terrain between the Aarhus Concert Hall and ''Sonnesgade'' at Godsbanen. Dokk1
Dokk1 or Dokken is a government building, public library and culture center in Aarhus, Denmark. It is situated on '' Hack Kampmanns Plads'' in the city center by the waterfront next to the Custom House. Dokk1 is part of the much larger development project Urban Mediaspace Aarhus, jointly financed by Aarhus Municipality and Realdania for 2.1 billion DKK. It is designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and Kristine Jensen, with construction managed by NCC AB. Construction broke ground 8 June 2011 and the building was inaugurated four years later on 20 June 2015. The name of the building was determined by a public contest held in the autumn of 2012. The combination of letters and number can be pronounced as "Dokken", "Dok-Ét" or "Dok-Een", meaning The Dock or Dock One in English. Magasin Du Nord
Magasin is a Denmark, Danish chain of department stores. It has seven department stores with its flagship store located on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. The company is a subsidiary of the German department store retailer Peek & Cloppenburg, Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf, Magasin du Nord has been a founder and remained a member of the International Association of Department Stores since 1928. Åboulevarden is a street and promenade in Aarhus, Denmark. It is 975 meters long and runs west to east from ''Vester Allé'' to ''Europaplads'' at Dokk1. The street is situated in the Indre by neighborhood where it is a popular thoroughfare for pedestrians. The center contains Aarhus river which splits the street in a north and south side.
