Middlesbrough Council, formerly known as Middlesbrough Borough Council, is a unitary authority based in Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, England. The authority has combined some duties with its nearby councils to form the Tees Valley Combined Authority. The borough status in the United Kingdom, borough is often considered to be larger than current borough boundaries, with a total built-up population of 174,700. It is in the Regions of England, statistical region of North East England. The council's borough had a resident population in 2001 of 134,855. Jacob Young (politician)
Jacob Young (born 2 February 1993) is a British Conservative Party politician serving as Assistant Government Whip since September 2022. He was elected as the member of Parliament (MP) for Redcar at the 2019 general election. He is the first Conservative MP to represent the constituency. Early life and career Young was born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire as the son of Terrence Anthony Young and Elizabeth Anne Young. He grew up in a working-class family in Middlesbrough, and has six siblings. Young attended Macmillan Academy, and then studied at the Redcar & Cleveland College and the TTE Technical Institute. The 2015 Middlesbrough Borough Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of Middlesbrough Borough Council in England. It took place on the same day as the election for the Mayor of Middlesbrough, as well as the UK general election, and other local elections across England.
