Michele De Pascale (born 20 January 1985 in Cesena) is an Italian politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party and he was elected Mayor of Ravenna on 21 June 2016. He has also served as President of the Province of Ravenna since 4 August 2016. The Mayor of Ravenna is an elected politician who, along with the Ravenna's City Council, is accountable for the strategic government of Ravenna in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The current Mayor is Michele De Pascale, a member of the Democratic Party, who took office on 21 June 2016. Overview According to the Italian Constitution, the Mayor of Ravenna is member of the City Council. Ravenna
Ravenna ( , , also ; rgn, Ravèna) is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. It was the capital city of the Western Roman Empire from 408 until its collapse in 476. It then served as the capital of the Ostrogothic Kingdom until it was re-conquered in 540 by the Byzantine Empire. 2016 Italian Local Elections
The 2016 Italian local elections were held on 5 June, with a run-off, where necessary if a candidate for Mayor obtained less than 50 percent of votes in the first round, held on 19 June. In Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol the elections were held on 8 May (second round on 22 May), in Aosta Valley on 15 May. Municipal councilors and mayors ordinarily serve a term of five years. Voting system All mayoral elections in Italy in cities with a population higher than 15,000 use the same system. Under this system voters express a direct choice for the mayor or an indirect choice voting for one of the parties of the candidate's coalition.
