Michael Marrak
Michael Marrak (born 1965 in Weikersheim, Baden-Württemberg) is a German science fiction and horror writer. He is also an illustrator and from 1993 to 1996 he edited the magazine ''Zimmerit''. His first novel ''Stadt der Klage'' was published by the Austrian art group and publishing collective monochrom. One of his best-known works is the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis winning novel ''Lord Gamma''. He also won the Deutscher Science Fiction Preis for his short stories twice. He's also the author of the backstory for the real-time combat space massively multiplayer online game ''Black Prophecy'', developed by Reakktor Media GmbH and released March 21, 2011. In 2020, he was the artist-in-residence of monochrom at Museumsquartier Vienna. His project was to create the novel ''Anima Ex Machina''. Weikersheim
Weikersheim is a town in the Main-Tauber district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History Town rights were granted to Weikersheim in 1313. As the one of the seats of the House of Hohenlohe, until 1756 Weikersheim's town center was dominated by Weikersheim Castle, residence of the Hohenlohe-Weikersheim line. During the process of German mediatization from 1806 to 1809, Weikersheim was awarded to the Kingdom of Württemberg, whose government assigned the city to . In 1938, the Oberamt was reorganized as , under whose jurisdiction Weikersheim remained. From 1 January 1972 to 1 January 1975, Weikersheim incorporated eight municipalities. In that time, , and as a result Weikersheim was assigned to the newly-created Main-Tauber district. In 2000, the old town and palace were placed under protection as cultural monuments. ''Traceroute'' is a 2016 Austrian- American documentary film directed by Johannes Grenzfurthner. The autobiographical documentary and road movie deals with the history, politics and impact of nerd culture. Grenzfurthner calls his film a "personal journey into the uncharted depths of nerd culture, a realm full of dangers, creatures and more or less precarious working conditions", an attempt to "chase the ghosts of nerddom's past, present and future." Karsten Kruschel
Karsten Kruschel (born 1959 in Havelberg) is a German science fiction writer, essayist and critic, who lives near Leipzig. His best known works are the Deutscher Science Fiction Preis winning novels ''Vilm'' and ''Galdäa''. Some of his short stories were nominated for or won the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis. Kruschel is the younger son of the writer Heinz Kruschel (1929–2011). He grew up in Magdeburg and studied History and German Philology. Later he became a teacher and a copy editor (amongst others). He received his doctorate in German Philology in 1991 by writing a dissertation about the science fiction literature in the GDR. ''Black Prophecy'' was a 3D real-time space combat massively multiplayer online game developed by Reakktor Media GmbH and published by gamigo AG for Microsoft Windows.
