Michael Kuhr
Michael Kuhr (born 26 February 1962) is a German former professional kickboxer. Since retiring, he has worked as a security specialist. Biography Michael was born to Wolfgang Kuhr and Traute Nitschke in Berlin in 1962. He worked for the German postal service from 1978 to 1995, before resigning for health reasons. He now runs a successful security company in Berlin, and regularly aids in police investigations. In 2001 he worked with the Landeskriminalamt Berlin as part of the special unit "''Besondere Aufbauorganisation (BAO) Türsteher''", established to help combat organized crime. Kuhr began kickboxing in 1974. After winning the Vice World Championship in 1979 he began to compete regularly in amateur competition, becoming ten times German champion, four times European Champion and 1985 World Champion WAKO After moving into the professional circuit in 1990 he became the first German professional kickboxing champion. Kickboxing is a combat sport focused on kicking and punching. The combat takes place in a boxing ring, normally with boxing gloves, mouthguards, shorts, and bare feet to favour the use of kicks. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or for competition. Some styles of kickboxing include: Karate, Muay Thai, Japanese kickboxing, Sanda, and Savate. World Association Of Kickboxing Organizations
The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (W.A.K.O or WAKO) is an international kickboxing organization counting over 120 affiliated countries representing all five continents. WAKO is a major governing body of amateur kickboxing and is responsible for the development of kickboxing worldwide. The organization was officially recognized as an official kickboxing governing body by Sport Accord. WAKO is recognized by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). ISKA
The ISKA (originally International Sport Karate Association, later also called the International Sport Kickboxing Association) is one of the major international bodies regulating sport karate and kickboxing matches, and is based in the United States. It was established in 1985 as a response to legal and revenue issues that sent the Professional Karate Association (PKA) into decline. Troy Dorsey
Troy Glenn Dorsey (born November 19, 1962) is a former U.S. boxer and kickboxer who competed in the bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight divisions. Known predominantly for his indomitable spirit, amazing physical endurance and a propensity to hammer an opponent with a withering constant barrage of punches, Dorsey began his martial arts training in karate and taekwondo at the age of ten before later making the switch to full contact kickboxing where he was a three-time world champion as well as a gold medallist the WAKO Amateur World Championships in both 1985 (London) and 1987 (Munich).
