After a brief and successful run as an amateur kickboxer in 1980, Dorsey soon turned professional. He rose to prominence with a one-sided

He has two daughters, Kendra and Shelly, with his wife Leslie. Troy is also a Brazilian jiu-jitsu Black Belt under Travis Lutter.
