Michael Andrew Clarke (born 24 August 1970 in Melbourne, Australia) is a former Australian mogul skier. He won the Junior World Mogul Championships in 1989, Australia's first ever skiing world championship win. Not just Australia's first skiing world champion but Australia's first world champion in any of the winter Olympic sports. From Falls Creek, Clarke, won the mogul event at the junior world championships in Sälen æːlen locality Sweden. The only other Australian to win a world championship skiing medal was Malcolm Milne, who won a downhill bronze in 1967. Michael Clarke is a British academic who specialises in Military science, defence studies. He was Director of the Royal United Services Institute from 2007 to 2015. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, he served as Sky News' security and defence analyst. Biography A graduate of Aberystwyth University, Clarke is a former Deputy Vice-principal and Director of Research Development at King's College London, where he remains a visiting professor of Defence Studies. Between 1990 and 2001, Clarke was the Director of the Centre for Defence Studies. From 2001 to 2005, he was the Director of the International Policy Institute. Michael Clarke (Australian Politician)
Michael Alastair Clarke (28 September 1915 – 11 August 2002) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sunbury to Russell Clarke and Florence Douglas Mackenzie. He attended Melbourne Grammar School and then Oxford University, where he received a Master of Arts. In 1938 he was called to the bar, but his career was interrupted as he joined the Australian Imperial Force at the outbreak of World War II. He fought in the Battle of Britain and in North Africa, before being sent to Greece and Crete, where he was captured. He was a prisoner of war from 1941 to 1945, and on his return became a farmer at Clarkefield. He married Helen Rosalind Lewis on 16 September 1948; they had three daughters. In 1959 he moved to Rochester. In 1964 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council as a Country Party member. Michael John Clarke (born 2 April 1981) is an Australian former cricketer. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in both Test and One Day International (ODI) between 2011 and 2015, leading Australia to victory in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also served as captain of the Twenty20 International (T20I) side between 2007 and 2010. He is regarded as one of the best batsmen of his generation.
