Michael John Bailey (born 1 August 1954) is an English former cricketer. Bailey was born at Cheltenham in August 1954. He made his debut in first-class cricket for Hampshire against Essex at Bournemouth in the 1979 County Championship. He played first-class cricket for Hampshire until 1982, making twenty appearances. Playing principally as a right-arm off break bowler, Bailey took 18 wickets at an average of 55.33; he took one five wicket haul, with figures of 5 for 89 against Northamptonshire in 1980. He scored 228 runs with the bat at a batting average of 11.40, with a highest score of 24. He was noted by Robin Smith, who joined Hampshire in Bailey's final season with the county, as the dressing-room joker in the Hampshire team. Michael Bailey (born October 11, 1982) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Early years In September 2002, he enrolled at Mount Allison University, studying English while playing for both the Mount Allison Mounties football and basketball teams. In 2003, he was named an Atlantic University Sport All-Star and named the Mounties most improved player, recording 36 tackles in 8 games. Rev. Michael Buckworth Bailey M.A. (10 April 1827 - 6 December 1899) was a minister of the Church of England. As Consular Chaplain to the British Legation in Yokohama, Bailey was one of the first Anglican priests to serve in Japan. Background and early life Born in Kottayam, India in 1827, son of CMS missionary Rev. Benjamin Bailey. Educated in Dewsbury, Yorkshire and at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. Ordained deacon in 1854 and priest in 1855, thereafter serving as curate in a number of parishes in and around London.
