Merzse-marsh
Merzse-marsh Nature Reserve (also known as Merse-marsh, or Merzse Marsh) is a nature reserve located at the eastern edge of Budapest, close to the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. It is one of the most undisturbed wetlands in Budapest. Location The majority of the marsh lies in District XVII, close to Rákoskert neighborhood's trainstation. Even though it is located close to inhabited location, it is still not easily approachable as an about 15-minute hike is still required from the train station to reach the marsh. This likely explains why the marsh is still largely untouched. Marsh The marsh itself is a fairly large area however the protected territory is only about . Rákosmente
District XVII of Budapest (known as Rákosmente) is a suburban district of Budapest on the left bank of the Danube, in the eastern part of the capital. It is Budapest's largest district, with an area of 54.82 km2, and home to nearly 90,000 people, making it the seventh most populous district of Budapest. Towns that were different in nature, but closely connected, were annexed to the capital in 1950 as part of the Greater Budapest plan. It is one of the most beautifully located districts of Pest, which is partly located as high as the 235 meters Gellért Hill. Rákoskert
Rákoskert is a former town in Hungary now part of District XVII of Budapest until it was united with Budapest on 1 January 1950. The population here is around 9372. Location Rákoskert is located in District XVII of Budapest and lies between Ecser and Rákoshegy. An area is also included in the neighborhood known as Strázsahegy. Rákoskert is the easternmost and most distant part of Budapest; it is located on a road about 20 km from the zero milestone, so it is actually further away from the city center than some towns around Budapest such as: Érd, Biatorbágy or Dunakeszi. Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (, ) , formerly known as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport and commonly denoted as Ferihegy (), is the international airport serving the Hungarian capital city of Budapest. Protected areas of Hungary includes 10 national parks, 35 landscape protection areas and 145 minor nature reserves.
