Mere, Belgium
Mere is a sub-municipality of Erpe-Mere in Flanders. It is located on the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek in the Denderstreek in the southeast of East Flanders and belongs to Arrondissement of Aalst. It is bordered by the sub-municipalities of Erpe, Ottergem, Bambrugge and Aaigem and the municipalities Haaltert (sub-municipality Haaltert) and Aalst, Belgium, Aalst (sub-municipality Nieuwerkerken). Mere has 5033 inhabitants as of 1 January 2003 and an area of 5.77 km. The population density is 873 inhabitants / km ². History On the opposite side of a windmill in the Jeruzalemstraat (a street), the remains of a Roman villa have been found (on the hill opposite the Merelputstraat). Mere was mentioned in a 1003 document as Meren. Perhaps the name comes from the numerous swamps (Meren in Dutch) in the neighbourhood of the village. Mere, Cheshire
Mere is a civil parish and linear village along the old course of the A556 road in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, North West England, about south-west of Altrincham. Bucklow Hill is at its northeast end, and the Mere crossroads is at the southwest end. The village of Mere is about a mile long and has a varied stock of housing. Most houses are large and have ample gardens leading down to the lake; these are along the inner sides of a triangle formed by the A556, A50 and A5034 roads. Inside the triangle is a lake after which Mere was named, and a golf and country club. Mere is a market town and Civil parishes in England, civil parish in Wiltshire, England. It lies at the extreme southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain, close to the borders of Somerset and Dorset. Mere Broughton
Mary Mereiwa Broughton (née Whakaruru, 24 December 1938 – 31 January 2016), known as Mere Broughton, was a New Zealand Māori language activist and unionist. Early life Of Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāpuhi, Te Arawa and Ngāti Kahungunu descent, she was born on 24 December 1938 in Hastings and raised in Te Teko and Kawerau before training as a nurse and working at Whakatāne Hospital. On 21 May 1960, she married Anglican priest Ruka Broughton, with whom she raised five children. They divorced in 1978. Career In the 1970s and 1980s she worked at Victoria University, co-establishing Te Herenga Waka Marae with Te Huirangi Waikerepuru, Wiremu Parker and her husband. Also at the university she became active in union affairs, in the Association of University Staff (now the TEU). In 2010, she became the TEU's first life member. Meredyth (Mere) Smith is an American television script-writer who has been described as a key writer of the series ''Angel''. She was also the executive story editor and script coordinator for 66 episodes from 1999 to 2003. While living in Brooklyn, Smith was active on ''The Bronze'', the ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' message board, and wrote Buffy fan fiction, before attending a Bronze meet-up in Los Angeles in 1998. Through a connection there, she obtained a position as assistant to a co-executive producer on the series '' Strange World''. She then became a script coordinator and later a writer of the Buffy spin-off series ''Angel''. Ain-Ervin Mere
Ain Mere (from birth to Estification Ervin Martson; 22 February 1903 – 5 April 1969) was an Estonian military officer in World War II. During the German occupation of Estonia, he served in the German-controlled Estonian Security Police and SD. Career He was born in Vändra and fought voluntarily in the Estonian War of Independence. In early 1919, Mere was wounded while serving on an armored train and was sent to the rear. According to the KGB archives, he was drafted as an agent of NKVD in 1940–1941. Mere's reports on the resettlement of Baltic Germans and the exposure of underground Estonian organisations reached the desk of Lavrenti Beria. In recognition of his performance Mere was appointed the director of a special department of the Estonian Rifle Corps. He was known under code name "Müller". The mere () is a type of short, broad-bladed weapon in the shape of an enlarged tear drop. It was used to strike/jab an opponent in the body or the head, usually made from nephrite jade (pounamu or Greenstone (archaeology), greenstone). deLillos is a Norwegian pop rock band formed in Oslo in 1984. They are generally regarded as one of the "Four Greats" in modern Norwegian pop music, i.e. one of the four 1980s groups that founded a new tradition for rock music with lyrics in Norwegian. The remaining three "Greats" are DumDum Boys, Raga Rockers and Jokke & Valentinerne. History The group was formed in 1984 by Lars Lillo-Stenberg with bassist and occasional vocalist Lars Fredrik Beckstrøm and drummer Rune Lindstrøm. In 1985, Lindstrøm left the band to join the Hare Krishna movement and was replaced by Øystein Jevanord. In 1988, Jevanord left and was replaced by Øystein Paasche. Mere Brow is a small village in Lancashire, England, situated between Tarleton and Banks, just off the A565 road. It is 6 miles (9 km) east of Southport and 10 miles (15 km) south west of Preston. It is administered by the West Lancashire Borough Council and the Tarleton parish council. It is in the West Lancashire parliamentary constituency. Mere Brow is the second largest village in the parish of Tarleton, the largest being Tarleton and the smallest being Holmes and Sollom.
