''Mental Funeral'' is the second album by American death metal band Autopsy (band), Autopsy, released on April 22, 1991 by Peaceville Records. Dutch Pearce of Decibel (magazine), Decibel called ''Mental Funeral'' "one of the most influential albums in the history of death metal". Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic states that the album confused listeners when first released, and conferred the title of "death metal's ultimate love/hate band" on Autopsy. Background and recording The album was recorded at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco. The band described the album's recording process as having a "party atmosphere", and claim to have consumed copious amounts of Alcoholic beverage, alcohol and cannabis during its recording process. Autopsy (band)
Autopsy is an American death metal band formed in Contra Costa County, California, Contra Costa County, California, in 1987 by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler. The group disbanded in 1995 and reunited in 2009. The band's hometown is in Concord, California. History Initial career Autopsy was formed in August 1987 by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler, shortly after Reifert's departure from Death (metal band), Death. Danny Coralles
Daniel Coralles is one of the current guitarists in the band Autopsy and was co-founder with drummer Chris Reifert of Abscess. Autopsy is back again and have been so since 2009 which is currently producing new material and is actively playing selected venues throughout the world. Danny, prior to forming Abscess along with Reifert have been continuous bandmates then and now in Autopsy as well as collaborations with Frank "Killjoy" Pucci in the now defunct supergroup The Ravenous, and separate side projects, Eat My Fuk and Doomed. Bathory (band)
Bathory was a Swedish extreme metal band formed in Vällingby in March 1983. Named after Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory, they are considered pioneers of black metal (alongside Venom, Hellhammer and Mercyful Fate) and Viking metal. The book '' Lords of Chaos'' described Bathory's first four albums as "the blueprint for Scandinavian black metal." The band stopped performing live early on in its career and never toured; frontman, founder and main songwriter Tomas "Quorthon" Forsberg was the sole constant member, and was at times responsible for all instruments. The Residents
The Residents are an American art collective and art rock band best known for their avant-garde music and multimedia works. Since their first official release, ''Meet the Residents'' (1974), they have released over 60 albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects, and ten DVDs over the course of over half a century. Eskimo (album)
''Eskimo'' is the sixth studio album by American art rock group the Residents. The album was originally supposed to follow 1977's '' Fingerprince''; however, due to many delays and arguments with management, it was not released until 1979. The pieces on ''Eskimo'' feature home-made instruments and chanting against backdrops of wind-like synthesizer noise and miscellaneous sound effects. The work is programmatic, each piece pairing music with text detailing a corresponding pseudo-ethnographic narrative. While ''Eskimo'' is officially maintained to be a true historical document of life in the Arctic, the stories are deliberately absurd fictions only loosely based in actual Inuit culture, and the chanting is a combination of gibberish and commercial slogans.
