Menekşe Toprak
Menekşe Toprak (born 1970) is a German–Turkish writer, literary translator, and cultural journalist. She lives in Berlin and Istanbul. Early life and education Toprak initially lived with her grandfather in a village in the Kayseri Province and moved to Germany at the age of nine to join her parents, who were part of the first generation of recruited Turkish workers. Toprak attended school in Cologne. At the age of 15, she returned to Turkey and completed her high school education at the Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Gymnasium in Ankara. She then studied political science at Ankara University. Career After completing her studies, she worked for four years at a bank in Ankara, two of which were spent in a Berlin branch of the bank. She briefly worked as a project manager at the Bertelsmann Book Club in Warsaw. Kayseri
Kayseri () is a large List of cities in Turkey, city in Central Anatolia, Turkey, and the capital of Kayseri Province, Kayseri province. Akif Pirinçci (; born 20 October 1959) is a Turkish-born German writer who is best known internationally for his novel ''Felidae''. After a highly controversial speech for the Pegida movement in 2015, he had his contracts cancelled and works delisted by his publishers, Amazon and most booksellers in Germany. Turkish Women Writers
Turkish women writers refers to Turkish women contributors to Turkish literature. The area is parallel to Women's writing in English. Pioneers During the Ottoman era, there were only a few woman poets and novelists. Professor Nazan Bekiroğlu gives the priority to two woman poets; Zeynep Hatun and Mihri Hatun who lived in the 15th century. But probably the best known woman poet was Fitnat Hanım of the 18th century. The first Ottoman novelists were Zafer Hanım who was the first author of a novel published in 1877 and Fatma Aliye who is considered by many as the first Turkish female novelist. Zafer Şenocak (/zæˈfɑɹ ˈʃɛnoʊʤək/ born May 25, 1961) is a German writer well known for his poems, essays, and books. Born in Ankara, he has lived in Germany since 1970 and in Berlin since 1989. Life Şenocak was born on May 25, 1961, in Ankara, Turkey. He and his family lived in Istanbul until 1970, when they moved to Munich, Germany. At the University of Munich, Şenocak studied German literature, political science, and philosophy. During this time, he began publishing his German poems.
