Melodías Porteñas
''Melodías porteñas'' (''Buenos Aires Melodies'') is a List of Argentine films of 1937, 1937 Argentine film, a musical directed by Luis Moglia Barth, who also co-wrote it. It is one of the most iconic films of the Golden Age of Argentine cinema. It is based on a struggling radio station, and depicts the events leading up to and following the disappearance of the station's star Tango music, tango singer, played by Amanda Ledesma. It may be seen as an exposé of the sensationalism of radio stations of the period. Enrique Santos Discépolo won praise for his performance as the increasingly desperate director of the station. Plot The film is set in the Radio Moderna broadcast station. The station director, Martín Martínez, is interpreted by Enrique Santos Discépolo, who also helped with the script. Luis Moglia Barth
Luis Moglia Barth (12 April 1903 - 18 June 1984) was an Argentina, Argentine film director and screenwriter, and one of the influential directors in the Golden Age of Argentine cinema. He directed some 30 films between 1927 and 1959, often screenwriting for his pictures. He died in Buenos Aires, aged 81. Guillermo Battaglia
Guillermo Battaglia (December 7, 1899 – September 26, 1988) was a prolific Argentine film actor of the classic era of Argentine cinema. Born in Buenos Aires, he began his film career in 1937 in '' Melodías porteñas''. Battaglia starred in over 100 films, between then and 1987. He was one of the most prolific supporting actors during this entire period, notably in Roberto Cossa's ''La nona'' (1979), David Lipszyc's ''Volver'' (1982), Alberto Fischerman's ''Los días de junio'' (1985), and the Best foreign film oscar-winning ''The Official Story'' in 1985. Alberto de Zavalia (4 May 1911 – 7 May 1988 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentina, Argentine film director and film producer notable for his work during the Golden Age of Argentine cinema, classical era of Argentine cinema. Biography De Zavalía was born in Buenos Aires to a middle-class, well-off family. He completed law school but never worked as a lawyer, instead dedicating himself to movie-making, an industry that was then thriving. Raúl Soldi (27 March 1905 – 21 April 1994) was an Argentine painter and production designer whose work treated various subjects, including landscapes, portraits, the theater and the circus, and nature. His theatrical figures are renowned for their melancholy appearance. He also illustrated poetry books.
