Melisia
Melissia () is a town and a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Penteli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 3.956 km2. Melissia is situated at the southwestern foot of the Penteli mountains, 12 km northeast of Athens city centre. It is a green residential town. It was part of the municipality of Marousi until 1946, when it became a separate community. It became a municipality in 1990. The population of Melissia was more than 22,000 at the 2011 census. It has six primary schools, two high schools (Greek "Gymnasium"), one lyceum and a modern municipal swimming-pool. Vrilissia () is a suburban town and a municipality of the North Athens regional unit, in the Attica region. It is located in the Athens basin, at the southwestern foot of the Penteli Mountain. At the 2021 census, the municipality had 32,417 residents. Geography The administrative limits of the municipality extend from the Chalandri gully up to foothills of the Penteli, known as Patima and Koufos Hills. Nea Penteli () is a small municipal unit - village in the northeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Penteli, of which it is a municipal unit. Geography Nea Penteli is situated at the southwestern foot of the Penteli mountains, at elevation. The municipal unit has an area of 3.230 km2. It is northeast of Athens city centre. The Kallikratis Programme () is the common name of Greek law 3852/2010 of 2010, a major administrative reform in Greece. It brought about the second major reform of the country's administrative divisions following the 1997 Kapodistrias reform. Athmonum
Athmonum or Athmonon (), also Athmonia (Ἀθμονία), was a deme of ancient Attica, situated on the site of Marousi (Amarousion). The name of the modern village has been derived from Amarysia, a surname of Artemis, who was worshipped under this designation at Athmonum. An inscription found near Marousi, in which the ''temenos'' of this goddess is mentioned, puts the matter beyond dispute. Athmonum also possessed a very ancient temple of Aphrodite Urania. Marousi or Maroussi (), also known as Amarousio (), is a city and a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens#Athens Urban Area, Athens urban area, Greece. Marousi dates back to the era of the History of Athens, ancient Athenian Republic; its ancient name was ''Athmonum, Athmonon'' () and it represented one of the 10 Athenian sub-cities.
