Maxi Records
Maxi Records was an independent dance record label. Established by Claudia Cuseta and Kevin McHugh in 1990, the New York CIty based label helped establish the House Music scene in the 90s working with producers Mood II Swing, Cevin Fisher, Naked Music NYC, Itaal Shur, Danny Krivit; artists Daphne, Sagat, Big Muff, Judy Albanese; and established names Masters At Work, Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Joe Claussell, Francois Kevorkian, Armand Van Helden, Byron Burke, Benji Candelario, and Shay Jones. The label achieved fame in 1994 with the success of the Sagat single "Funk Dat" . "Funk Dat" went on to sell over half a million copies and reached the top ten of Billboard's Dance Charts. Following this success, the label expanded their marketing to other cities such as Miami. Maxi signed a licensing deal with Razor & Tie records in 2000. Danny Tenaglia
Daniel "Danny" Tenaglia (born March 7, 1961) is an American DJ and record producer. He is a Grammy nominee for the best remixed recording (44th Annual Grammy Award). He is also a three time International Dance Music Award winner, 3 time DJ Awards winner and 2 time Muzik Awards recipient. Biography Early life At the age of ten, Tenaglia started to collect records. In 1979, he began going to nightclub Paradise Garage, where DJ Larry Levan's genre-less blend of music appealed to him. This was the club model Tenaglia would one day emulate: Levan's bold style, the venue's plain décor, and the party's warmth and inclusiveness. Tenaglia left New York in 1985 and started DJing in Miami as a resident at Cheers nightclub, playing classic New York and Chicago house. He returned to New York five years later. Sagat (rapper)
Sagat is an American rapper. He also works as a producer under the alias Jump Chico Slamm (or Jump "Chico" Slamm). He had a major hit in 1994 with "Why Is It? (Funk Dat)". He then produced a follow up single, "Luvstuff". These songs charted at Christmas time on the UK Singles Chart in 1993 and 1994. "Luvstuff" gained support from DJs such as Pete Tong, Jon Carter and Judge Jules. In 1994, he released his album, ''My Poem Is... The World According To Sagat'', containing his hits "Why Is It? Razor & Tie
Razor & Tie was an American entertainment company that consisted of a record label and a music publishing company. It was established in 1990 by Craig Balsam and Cliff Chenfeld. Based in New York City (with additional offices in Los Angeles and Nashville), Razor & Tie releases were distributed by Universal Music Group. Razor & Tie initially focused on compilation albums and re-issues. Directly marketed through television spots, the label had early success with 70s, 80s and 90s-themed albums, beginning with ''Those Fabulous 70s'' in 1990. Nettwerk Music Group is the umbrella company for Nettwerk Records, Nettwerk Management, and Nettwerk One Publishing. Established in 1984, the Vancouver-based company was created by Nettwerk principals Terry McBride and Mark Jowett as a record label to distribute recordings by the band Moev, but the label expanded in Canada and internationally.
