Matvei Michkov
Matvei Andreyevich Michkov (; born 9 December 2004) is a Russian professional ice hockey Forward (ice hockey), forward for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He made his Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) debut with SKA Saint Petersburg in 2021 and played for them and their affiliates until 2022. Michkov was drafted seventh overall by the Flyers in the 2023 NHL entry draft. Playing career Amateur As early as 2014, Michkov began to get noticed for his ice hockey talent, setting scoring records for his age group. Mathias or Matthias Hedenström (Swedish; 1780 – ), also known by his Russian name Matvei Matveyevich Gedenshtrom (), was a Russian explorer of Northern Siberia, writer, and public servant. Life Gedenshtrom was born in Riga, then part of the Russian Empire to Mathias Hedenström (1733–1799), a Swedish political refugee from Dalarna. Matvei Gedenshtrom himself was still a Swedish citizen in 1798. Gedenshtrom attended the University of Tartu. He did not finish his studies and left his alma mater in favor of work at Tallinn customs. Until 1806, he worked in Riga as a translator for Count Friedrich von Buxhoeveden, the Governor-General of the Baltic provinces. In 1808, while working as secretary to a customs inspector, he was arrested in connection with a bribery affair, tried, and then banished to Siberia. Matvei Petrovich Bronstein (, – February 18, 1938) was a Soviet theoretical physicist, a pioneer of quantum gravity, author of works in astrophysics, semiconductors, quantum electrodynamics and cosmology, as well as of a number of books in popular science for children. He was married to Lydia Chukovskaya, a writer and human rights activist. Career and personal life Matvei Petrovich Bronstein was the son of a doctor and was of Jewish descent. He studied at the University of Leningrad from 1926 to 1932 and subsequently worked at the Leningrad Physical-Technical Institute (FTI or PTI), where Yakov Ilyich Frenkel and Abram Fedorovich Ioffe were the leading scientists. Matvei Gridin (born 1 March 2006) is a Russian ice hockey left winger for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) while under contract to the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted 28th overall by the Flames in the 2024 NHL entry draft. Playing career Gridin began playing hockey at three years old in his hometown of Kurgan. He played youth hockey for Spartak St. Petersburg and Avangard Omsk's organizations before being selected by the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the 15th round of the 2022 USHL draft. Matvei Vasilevich Zakharov (; August 17, 1898 – January 31, 1972) was Marshal of the Soviet Union, Chief of the General Staff, and Deputy Defense Minister. Biography Zakharov was born in Voylovo, a village in Kalininsky District, Tver Oblast to peasant parents. Zakharov joined the Red Guards (precursor to the Red Army) in 1917, and took part in the Storming of the Winter Palace. He served under Kliment Voroshilov during the Russian Civil War. Matvei Sergeyevich Petrov (; born 16 July 1990) is a Russian-born Albanian artistic gymnast. He is the 2020 European Champion on the pommel horse, and he is Albania's first European medalist. He represented Albania at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was the first reserve for the pommel horse final after finishing tenth in the qualification round. Matvei Vasilyevich Golovinski (alternatively, Mathieu) () (6 March 1865 – 1920) was a Russian-French writer, journalist and political activist. Critics studying ''The Protocols of the Elders of Zion'' have argued that he was the author of the work.
