Matty Hong
Matthew Jacob Hong (born September 4, 1991) is an American rock climber, filmmaker and photographer. In 2018, he became the fourth American to climb a route graded at . As a filmmaker, he directed the 2017 film ''Break on Through'', which documented Margo Hayes completing the first female ascent of a 5.15-rated route, featured on the Reel Rock Film Tour. Biography Hong was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1991. He began climbing at an early age, brought to climbing spots in Rifle Canyon as a baby by his father Steve Hong and mother Karin Budding, who were both pioneering rock climbers. He joined a climbing team in middle school and began climbing more seriously at age 15, when he climbed his first and routes in Rifle. In 2011, Hong recorded the first ascent of ''Bad Girls Club'' in Rifle and in 2015, he bolted and completed his first route, ''La Cucaracha'' in Wicked Cave, also in Rifle. Tommy Caldwell
Tommy Caldwell (born August 11, 1978) is an American rock climber who has set records in sport climbing, traditional climbing, and in big-wall climbing. Caldwell made the first free ascents of several major routes on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. He made the first ascents of some of the hardest sport climbing routes in the U.S., including ''Kryptonite'' with grade of 5.14c/d, and the world's first route, ''Flex Luthor,'' at the Fortress of Solitude, Colorado in 2003. In January 2015, Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson completed the first free climb of the ''Dawn Wall'' of El Capitan. At the time, their 19-day ascent was considered one of the hardest big wall free ascents in history. Red River Gorge
The Red River Gorge is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky. Geologically it is part of the Pottsville Escarpment. The gorge lies within the Daniel Boone National Forest and was subsequently designated the Red River Gorge Geological Area, an area of around . It was designated a National Natural Landmark and National Archaeological District, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Clifty Wilderness Area lies entirely within the geological area in the Red River Gorge. Siurana (Tarragona)
Siurana is a village of the municipality of the Cornudella de Montsant in the ''comarca'' of Priorat, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. ''La Rambla'' is a sport climb at the limestone El Pati crag in Siurana, Catalonia in Spain. Originally bolted and climbed by Alexander Huber in 1994 as a route, the bolting was later extended by to a route, which was eventually climbed by Ramón Julián Puigblanque in 2003. 2011 IFSC Climbing World Cup
The 2011 IFSC Climbing World Cup was held in 20 locations. Bouldering competitions were held in 9 locations, lead in 10 locations, and speed in 5 locations. The season began on 14 April in Milano, Italy and concluded on 27 November in Barcelona, Spain. The top 3 in each competition received medals, and the overall winners were awarded trophies. At the end of the season an overall ranking was determined based upon points, which athletes were awarded for finishing in the top 30 of each individual event. The winners for bouldering were Kilian Fischhuber and Anna Stöhr, for lead Jakob Schubert and Mina Markovic, for speed Lukasz Swirk and Edyta Ropek, and for combined Jakob Schubert and Mina Markovic, men and women respectively. International Federation Of Sport Climbing
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is the international governing body for the sport of competitive climbing, which consists of the disciplines lead climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering. It was founded in Frankfurt on 27 January 2007 by 48 member federations, and is a continuation of the International Council for Competition Climbing, which had been in existence from 1997 to 2007 and was a part of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA). Due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the IFSC suspended the Russian and Belarusian federations, and cancelled all events in Russia in 2022.
