Matts Olsson
Matts Olsson (born 1 December 1988) is a Swedish former World Cup alpine ski racer who raced in the giant slalom discipline. Born in Karlstad, Olsson made his World Cup debut at age 19 in October 2007. He won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in the team event, and finished 18th in the giant slalom, and 24th in the super-G. Matts Olsson won his first World Cup competition victory in Alta Badia in December 2017 at an evening event in Parallel giant slalom. Karlstad (, ) is the 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. FIS Alpine World Ski Championships
The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships is an alpine skiing competition organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). History The inaugural world championships in alpine skiing were held in 1931. It consisted of Downhill (ski competition), downhill and Slalom skiing, slalom events for men and women. Next year the Alpine skiing combined, combined event was added to the program as a "paper" race which used the results of the downhill and slalom. During the 1930s, the event was held annually in Europe, until interrupted by the outbreak of World War II, preventing a 1940 event. An event was held in 1941, but included competitors only from nations from the Axis powers or nations not at war with them. The results were later cancelled by the FIS in 1946 because of the limited number of participants, so they are not considered official. Marcel Hirscher (born 2 March 1989) is an Austrian-Dutch FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer. Hirscher made his World Cup debut in March 2007. He competed primarily in slalom and giant slalom, as well as combined and occasionally in super G. Winner of a record eight consecutive World Cup titles, Hirscher has also won 11 medals at the Alpine Skiing World Championships, seven of them gold, a silver medal in slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and two gold medals in the combined and giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Alta Badia is a ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy, in the upper part of the Val Badia () in South Tyrol. It is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski area.
