Matt Mumford
Matt Mumford (born 6 April 1974) is an Australian professional skateboarder. Early life Mumford was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and grew up in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Professional skateboarding Mumford first gained attention when photographed by J Grant Brittain while skateboarding in his local area; at the time, Brittain was on tour with Mike McGill. Mumford later traveled to the United States (US) in 1993 to pursue a skateboarding career and was initially sponsored by McGill's Chapter 7 brand (later renamed "Shaft"), before moving to Invisible Skateboards. Mumford was then asked by professional skateboarder Jamie Thomas to join a new brand at the time, Zero Skateboards, in 1996. J. Grant Brittain (born 1955) is a photographer internationally recognized for his work documenting skateboarding. Brittain has been shooting skateboarding for over 30 years. Skateboarding In his early 20s, Brittain got a job at the Del Mar Skate Ranch, starting work on the second day the skatepark was open. Photography career Brittain began photographing skateboarding in 1979 at Del Mar. Brittain photographed many professional skateboarders skating at Del Mar including Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, and many others. Mike McGill
Mike McGill (born 1964) is an American skateboarder who is best known for inventing the trick " McTwist", an inverted 540 degree mute grab aerial. Professional skateboarding McTwist A McTwist is a transitional trick that was invented by McGill and consists of a front flip combined with a 540-degree rotation. McGill first performed the manoeuvre on a wooden half-pipe in Rättvik, Sweden in 1984 and then at the Del Mar Skate Ranch's concrete bowl, called The Keyhole, when he returned to the United States (U.S.). McGill was inspired by Fred Blood, who had performed a 540 on roller skates, and only a small number of professionals could successfully complete the trick at the time of its invention—Lester Kasai was the second skateboarder to successfully land the McTwist after McGill. Jamie Thomas (born October 11, 1974) is an American professional skateboarder and entrepreneur. He is the owner and founder of Zero Skateboards. Thomas' nickname in the skateboard industry is "The Chief". Early life Thomas was born in Florida. He grew up in Dothan, Alabama, but also spent time as a child in Atlanta, Georgia, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for his father's work as a nuclear engineer. Zero Skateboards is a skateboard company located in Carlsbad, California, United States. The brand was founded by professional skateboarder and entrepreneur Jamie Thomas, and distributed by his Black Box Distribution company. Erik Ellington (born August 9, 1977) is an American professional skateboarder. He established Bakerboys Distribution with Andrew Reynolds and Jim Greco in 2007. Jim Greco (born December 25, 1977) is an American professional skateboarder. He established Bakerboys Distribution with Andrew Reynolds and Erik Ellington in 2007. Bakerboys Distribution provides distribution for closely related in-house skateboard companies. He co-founded Deathwish Skateboards in 2008, along with Erik Ellington. Early life Greco was born on 25 December 1977 in West Haven, Connecticut. He is of Italian descent, with roots in Naples.
