Matt Hamilton (curler)
Matthew James Hamilton (born February 19, 1989) is an American curler from McFarland, Wisconsin. He currently plays front-end on Team John Shuster. He is a World Junior Champion, World Men's bronze medalist, and Olympic gold medalist. Curling career 2007–2014: Early career Hamilton played for skip Jeremy Roe at the 2007 and 2008 United States Men's National Championships, placing seventh and ninth, respectively. In 2008 he also joined Chris Plys' junior team, who had won the National Junior Championship the two previous years. Hamilton helped make it four Junior National Titles in a row for Plys, winning the 2008 and 2009 championships. As national champions, Hamilton and Team Plys represented the United States at the World Junior Championships. At the 2008 World Juniors in Östersund, Sweden they took home gold medals after beating Sweden's Oskar Eriksson 9–5 in the final. World Junior Curling Championships
The World Junior Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel featuring the world's best curlers who are 21 years old or younger. The competitions for both men and women occur at the same venue. The men's tournament has occurred since 1975 and the women's since 1988. Since curling became an Olympic Games, Olympic sport in 1998 Winter Olympics, 1998, the World Junior Curling Championship of the year preceding the Olympic Games have been held at the site of the curling tournament for the upcoming Games. The event had its origins with the Ontario Junior Masters Curling Championship, which began in 1968 and, at first, mostly consisted of teams in the Greater Toronto Area. 2008 United States Men's Curling Championship
The 2008 United States Men's Curling Championship was held from February 16 to 23 at the Hibbing Curling Club in Hibbing, Minnesota. It was held in conjunction with the 2008 United States Women's Curling Championship. Craig Brown skipped his team to victory, his second national title. Craig Disher was runner-up for the third year in a row. Skip (curling)
In the sport of curling, the skip is the Captain (sports), captain of a team. The skip determines strategy, and holds the Curling#Curling broom, broom in the ''house'' (target area) to indicate where a teammate at the other end of the curling ''sheet'' (playing area) should aim the stone. The skip usually throws the last two stones in the fourth position, but may play in any other position. Sometimes "skipper" is used; it can also be abbreviated as "S". It's also used as a verb ("skips", "skipped", "skipping"). It is conventional to identify a team by the name of the skip. The 2022 United States Mixed Doubles Curling Championship was held from March 8 to 13, 2022 at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin. The championship featured twenty-five teams that played in a triple knockout format, which qualified eight teams for the championship round. United States Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
The United States Mixed Doubles Curling Championship is the national curling championship for mixed doubles curling in the United States. The winning team in the tournament represents the United States at that year's World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. History The 2021 Championship was originally planned to be held February 28 to March 6, 2021 at Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena in Irvine, California and also be the Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials for the 2022 Winter Olympics. In December, 2020, the USCA announced that all remaining 2020–21 events would be either cancelled or postponed until late spring 2021. This postponement delayed the Mixed Doubles Championship until after the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Championship and so the 2020 champions, Tabitha Peterson and Joe Polo, were selected to represent the United States. United States Mixed Doubles Curling Olympic Trials
The United States mixed doubles Olympic curling trials occur every four years, in the year preceding the Winter Olympic Games. These trials have been used to determine the United States representatives in the year's Winter Olympic Games since mixed doubles curling was added to the Olympic program for the 2018 Winter Olympic games.
