Matra Djet
The Djet is a French sports car designed and sold by René Bonnet (1962–1964) and then Matra (1965–1967). It was the world's first rear mid-engined production road car. Different versions were sold under a variety of names, including René Bonnet Djet, Matra-Bonnet Djet, Matra Sports Djet, and finally Matra Sports Jet. Djet The car started out as the René Bonnet Djet in June 1962. This model became known in retrospect as the Djet I. Bonnet named it "Djet" as he wanted it to be pronounced by French speakers more like the English word "jet" instead of the French word "jet". The name is often styled "D'jet" or "D'Jet". It was powered by a 1,108 cc engine from a Renault 8 in a mid-engine location mated to a gearbox from the Renault Estafette van. The firm was the continuation of DB (car), Deutsch et Bonnet (DB) by René Bonnet (businessman), René Bonnet when Charles Deutsch, the "D" in DB, founded his own firm CD. Facel S.A. was a French manufacturer of pressed steel automobile components and, subsequently, complete automobiles of their own design. To intensify its World War II war effort, French subcontracting company for military aeronautics Bronzavia created a subsidiary called Facel (acronym of ''Forges et Ateliers de Constructions d'Eure-et-Loir'') in December 1939. After the war, in 1945, by merging with Métallon, Facel began to make short-run special bodies, coupés or cabriolets for Simca, Ford SAF, Ford of France, Panhard and Delahaye. Approximately 2,900 cars of all models were hand-built in Facel's short life. Unitary bodies without a chassis became general for mass-produced cars, and Facel lost its big customers. De Tomaso Vallelunga
The De Tomaso Vallelunga is a mid-engine sports car produced from 1964 until 1967. It was the first road going automobile manufactured by the company. History The prototype has a backbone chassis with stressed member engine and formula car suspension in a barchetta body constructed in Modena. Named the Vallelunga 1500 after the Autodromo di Vallelunga racing circuit, it was shown by De Tomaso at the Turin Auto Show in 1963 and subsequently raced. Advertised in a prospectus as a Spider with weather equipment, Alejandro de Tomaso hoped to sell the concept to another company, but when there were no takers he commissioned Carrozzeria Fissore to build a new aluminum body on his rolling chassis.
