Mathieu Baumel
Mathieu Baumel (born 17 January 1976) is a French rally raid co-driver competing in the World Rally-Raid Championship. Alongside Nasser Al-Attiyah, he won the Dakar Rally five times, the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies four times, and the World Rally-Raid Championship twice. Baumel parted ways with Al-Attiyah after the 2024 Dakar Rally. He reunited with Guerlain Chicherit, with whom he ran the 2005 and 2006 Dakar Rallies, for the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal later that year, before joining Guillaume De Mévius at the X-raid Mini JCW Team. 2022 World Rally-Raid Championship
The 2022 World Rally-Raid Championship was the inaugural season of the annual competition for rally raid events sanctioned by both the FIA and FIM. Calendar The calendar for the 2022 season originally featured five rally-raid events. Rally Kazakhstan, which was initially planned for 24–30 April, was cancelled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Artificial Coma
An induced comaalso known as a medically induced coma (MIC), barbiturate-induced coma, or drug-induced comais a temporary coma (a deep state of unconsciousness) brought on by a controlled dose of an anesthetic drug, often a barbiturate such as pentobarbital or thiopental. Other intravenous anesthetic drugs such as midazolam or propofol may be used. Drug-induced comas are used to protect the brain during major neurosurgery, as a last line of treatment in certain cases of status epilepticus that have not responded to other treatments, and in refractory intracranial hypertension following traumatic brain injury. Guillaume de Mévius (born 4 August 1994) is a Belgian rally driver. He is currently part of Red Bull's rallying team for rally raid events and was part of the inaugural World Rally-Raid Championship. He has previously driven in the World Rally Championship-2. He is the son of former World Rally Championship driver Grégoire De Mévius Career de Mévius began competing in rally in 2013, focusing primarily on the Belgian Rally Championship. BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal is an international rally-raid competition held in Portugal. It is organized by Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) and the race is the third leg of the FIA FIM World Rally-Raid Championship 2024 (W2RC) and is a points scoring event. The inaugural edition was held from 2 to 7 April 2024. It is held in Portugal and Spain and the only European race in the W2RC calendar. The 2006 Dakar Rally, also known as the 2006 Paris-Dakar Rally, was the 28th running of the Dakar Rally event. The 2006 event ran from 31 December 2005 to 15 January 2006. It started from Lisbon, Portugal, and passed through Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea, before finishing in Senegal. 2005 Dakar Rally
2005 Dakar Rally also known as the 2005 Paris-Dakar Rally was the 27th running of the Dakar Rally event. The 2005 event was long, began in Barcelona on 31 December 2004 and passed through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali before ending at Dakar in Senegal on 16 January 2005. The course was shorter than in 2004 but was more challenging. A record number of competitors, 696 cars, motorbikes and trucks (including assistance vehicles) in total, entered the rally. This year introduced a regulation for motorcycles that allowed open class single cylinder motorcycles of any capacity but limited twin cylinder motorcycles to 450cc. Guerlain Chicherit
Guerlain Chicherit (born 20 May 1978 in Paris) is a French Rallying, rally and rallycross driver, and a professional Skiing, skier who was four times world champion in Freeriding (winter sport), freeriding (1999, 2002, 2006 and 2007). Biography He made his professional motorsport debut in the French Rally Cup driving a Citroën Saxo, and after a successful season in 2003 he became an official Citroën driver. In 2006, after winning the 2005 Dakar Challenge, he attended his first Dakar Rally, driving a BMW X3, and won a stage on his way to finishing 9th in the final classification. In the 2009 Dakar Rally he suffered an accident while fighting in the general classification, and finished 9th. 2024 Dakar Rally
The 2024 Dakar Rally was a rally raid event held in Saudi Arabia. It was the 46th edition of the Dakar Rally, organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), and the 5th time Saudi Arabia has hosted the event. The event took place between 5 and 19 January 2024. For the third year running, the event was also the first round of the 2024 World Rally-Raid Championship. The outline of the race route was presented on 3 June 2023. This year the route started at Al-'Ula, then across the Empty Quarter, and finished in Yanbu. The race format consisted of a prologue and 12 stages, including a 48-hour marathon stage - dubbed as a '48h chrono stage', which covered over 600km with a midnight halt. The new format marathon stage included time limit for stopping at 4pm, and setting off the next day at 7am.
