Marv Cook
Marvin Eugene Cook (born February 24, 1966) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 1989 NFL draft. A 6'4", 234-lb. tight end from the University of Iowa, Cook played in seven NFL seasons from 1989 to 1995 for the Patriots, the Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Rams. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 1991 and 1992. In 1991, Cook was fourth in NFL receptions with 83. His 210 receptions as a Patriot put him 3rd in team history for tight ends behind Rob Gronkowski and Ben Coates. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is an offense (sports), offensive position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football. It is a hybrid that combines the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a receiver (football), receiver. As part of the receiver corps, they play inside the flanks (tight), contrasted with the split end who plays outside the flanks (wide). Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. 1990 New England Patriots Season
The 1990 New England Patriots season was the team's 31st, and 21st in the National Football League (NFL). It was the first for head coach Rod Rust, who was looking to improve on the 5-11 mark from the year before that cost Raymond Berry, who had led the Patriots to the playoffs twice in his tenure, his job. The Patriots instead finished the season with a record of 1–15, the worst record in franchise history. They finished last in the AFC East Division and dead last in the NFL. The 1990 NFL season was the 71st regular season of the National Football League (NFL). To increase revenue, the league, for the first time since , reinstated bye weeks, so that all NFL teams would play their 16-game schedule over a 17-week period. Ben Coates
Ben Terrence Coates Jr. (born August 16, 1969) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons, primarily with the New England Patriots. He played college football for the Livingstone Blue Bears and was selected by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 1991 NFL draft, where spent all but one season of his NFL career. In his final season, he was a member of the Baltimore Ravens. During his nine seasons with the Patriots, Coates was a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. The 1989 NFL draft (also known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting) was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players.
