1991 NFL Season
The 1991 NFL season was the 72nd regular season of the National Football League (NFL). It was the final season for coach Chuck Noll. The season ended with Super Bowl XXVI when the Washington Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills, 37–24, at the Metrodome in Minnesota. This was the second of four consecutive Super Bowl losses for Buffalo. The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington metropolitan area. World Bowl '91
World Bowl '91 (also referred to as World Bowl I) was the first annual World Bowl, the championship game of the World League of American Football. It took place on June 9, 1991 at London's Wembley Stadium. The game featured a matchup between the Barcelona Dragons and the London Monarchs. The Monarchs won 21–0 in front of 61,108 fans. Background The teams finished the 1991 season with the two best records in the WLAF. The Monarchs' 9–1 mark qualified them for the playoffs as European division champions, while the Dragons finished 8–2 and qualified as a wildcard. The Monarchs' only blemish on their record came at the hands of the Dragons, 20–17, at Wembley Stadium in the last week of the regular season. Mike Webster
Michael Lewis Webster (March 18, 1952September 24, 2002) was an American professional football center in the National Football League (NFL) from 1974 to 1990 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, class of 1997. Nicknamed "Iron Mike", Webster anchored the Steelers' offensive line during much of their run of four Super Bowl victories from 1974 to 1979 and is considered by many the greatest center in NFL history. Norm Johnson
Norman Douglas Johnson (born May 31, 1960) is an American former professional football player who was a placekicker for 18 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). During that time, he played for the Seattle Seahawks (1982–90), Atlanta Falcons (1991–1994), Pittsburgh Steelers (1995–98), and the Philadelphia Eagles (1999). Billy Joe Tolliver
Billy Joe Tolliver (born February 7, 1966) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) for twelve seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Oilers, Shreveport Pirates, Kansas City Chiefs, and New Orleans Saints. Steve Beuerlein
Stephen Taylor Beuerlein (born March 7, 1965) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. After his playing career, he became an NFL and college football analyst for CBS. Early life In his senior year, Beuerlein led Anaheim's Servite High School to the California Interscholastic Federation 1982 Southern Section Big Five championship, where he was named player of the year. Bradley William Daluiso (born December 31, 1967) is a former American football placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Oakland Raiders. Brett R. Perriman (born October 10, 1965) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints (1988–1990), Detroit Lions (1991–1996), Kansas City Chiefs (1997), and Miami Dolphins (1997). Robert Lee Massey (born February 17, 1966) is an American football coach and former professional player. He is the head football coach for Winston-Salem State University, a position he has held since 2019. Massey was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 1989 NFL draft. Tony Casillas
Tony Steven Casillas (born October 26, 1963) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) from 1986 through 1997. He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, winning an NCAA national championship in 1985, when he also won the Lombardi Award and was the UPI Lineman of the Year. James P. Burt (born June 7, 1959) is an American former professional football player who was a nose tackle for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL).
