Hynek Martinec
Hynek Martinec (born 12 November 1980 in Broumov) is a Czech-British painter, who graduated from the Studio of Classical Painting Techniques under the supervision of Zdeněk Beran at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague. After his studies he left for Paris (2005-2007) and since 2007 has been living in London. He received the prestigious BP Young Artist Award (2007) for his hyperrealistic portraits. His paintings are inspired by Old Masters and/or photographs, which link the past with the future, using modern technologies. Emil John Martinec (born 1958) is an American string theorist, a physics professor at the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago, and director of the Kadanoff Center for Theoretical Physics. He was part of a group at Princeton University that developed heterotic string theory in 1985. Early life and education Martinec was born October 4, 1958, in Downers Grove, Illinois. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1979 and earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1984, with a dissertation titled, ''Quantum Mechanics Versus General Covariance In Gravity And String Models,'' advised by Michael Peskin. Vladimír Martinec (born December 22, 1949) is a Czech retired ice hockey right wing who played both nationally and internationally in the 1970s and early 1980s. He won the Golden Hockey Stick award as top player in Czechoslovakia four times, in 1973, 1975, 1976, and 1979. Martinec played for Pardubice in the Czechoslovak Elite League from 1967 to 1981 with the exception of the 1978–79 season, when he played for Jihlava. Nicknamed "the Fox" due to the unpredictability of his offensive manoeuvres, he scored 343 goals in 539 games in the elite league. Martinec was a key player on the Czechoslovak national teams in the 1970s. Known for his technical skills, he scored 155 goals in 289 international games. Tereza Martincová (; born 24 October 1994) is a Czech tennis player. Martincová has won one doubles title on the WTA Tour and four singles titles on the ITF Circuit.
