John Ellis Martineau
John Ellis Martineau (December 2, 1873 – March 6, 1937) was the 28th governor of Arkansas and was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. His term as Governor was marked by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, with Martineau serving as President of the Tri-State Flood Commission. Horace Martineau
Horace Robert Martineau VC (31 October 1874 – 7 April 1916) was a British recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Military career Born and educated in London, Martineau enlisted in the 11th Hussars in 1891. He served in Natal and in India before buying his discharge and returning to South Africa in 1895. The next year he served in Colonel Sir Robert Baden-Powell's campaign against the Matebele, after which he joined the Cape Police. Lionel Martineau
Lionel Martineau (19 February 1867 – 17 November 1906) was an English first-class cricketer and solicitor. The son of Philip Meadows Martineau (1831 - 1911), he was born at Esher in February 1867. He was educated at Uppingham School, where he captained the school cricket team. From Uppingham he went up to Trinity College, Cambridge. While studying at Cambridge, he played first-class cricket for Cambridge University Cricket Club from 1887 to 1888, making ten appearances. An all-rounder he was described by ''Wisden'' as "a good batsman, having strong defence and possessing strokes all round the wicket, a useful slow bowler with a high delivery, and a fine field at mid-off". He scored 266 runs in his ten matches for Cambridge, averaging 20.46 and with a highest score of 109, which was his only first-class century and came against Sussex at Hove in 1887. Club cricket of a high standard was played at his private ground near Maidenhead between 1923 and 1939, and four national sides touring England began their tours playing against his personal XI; Australia in 1926, New Zealand in 1927, the West Indies in 1928 and India in 1932. André Martineau
André Martineau (born 14 May 1930 – 4 May 1972) was a French mathematician, specializing in mathematical analysis. Martineau studied at the École Normale Supérieure and received there, with Laurent Schwartz as supervisor, his Ph.D. with a thesis on analytic functionals and then worked for several years with Schwartz. Martineau became a professor at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis. Shortly before his 42nd birthday, he died of cancer. His research deals with analysis in several complex variables, where he introduced Fourier-Borel transformations for analytic functionals. Earl Thomas Martineau (August 30, 1896 – January 20, 1966) was an American college football player and coach. He played halfback at the University of Minnesota and was selected as an All-American in 1922 and 1923 and served as the captain of the 1923 Minnesota team. While at the University of Minnesota, Martineau was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. After graduating from Minnesota, Martineau became a football coach. From 1924 to 1928, he was the head football coach at Western Michigan University, then known as Western State Normal School and Western State Teachers College, compiling a record of 27–10–1 in five seasons.
