Marlin High School
Marlin High School is a public high school in the city of Marlin, Texas, United States. It is part of the Marlin Independent School District located in central Falls County. The school is classified as a 3A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). In 2015, the school was rated " Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. History In early 2023 the school had 33 12th grade students in its standard program. By the end of the school year the school administration discovered that five of those students qualified to graduate, so the graduation ceremony was delayed. While Marlin's Director of Human Resources and teacher Jesse Mustamante said, "The support was there" for students from teachers, several students strongly disagreed. Hearne High School
Hearne ( ) is a city in Robertson County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 4,544. The city is named for a family that settled in the area in the 19th century and promoted the construction of rail lines through the city. History Founding Hearne is located on land that initially belonged to politician and soldier José Francisco Ruiz. By the 1840s, a tavern was located there and it also served as a general store and post office. The Hearne family moved to the area in the 1850s, purchasing 10,000 acres and operating cotton plantations. Christopher C. Hearne wanted a railroad line built through the area, but the Civil War started before the railroad could be constructed. His widow later gave 700 acres to the Houston and Texas Central Railway. Dan Kubiak
Daniel James Kubiak (March 19, 1938 – August 30, 1998) was an educator and businessman from Rockdale, Texas, who served as a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1969 to 1983 and again from 1991 until his death in office. During his tenure in the House, he represented three different districts in Central Texas and was particularly known for his support of public education. Danario Alexander (born August 7, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Missouri. Early years Alexander earned honorable mention All-State and First-team All-District honors as a senior wide receiver for Marlin High School in 2005 after catching 49 passes for 850 yards and 9 touchdowns He was named Second-team Super Cen-Tex in 2005 as well as an honorable mention All-District pick as a junior in 2004. Prairie View Interscholastic League
The Prairie View Interscholastic League (PVIL) was the organization that governed academic and athletic competitions between African-American high schools in Texas for much of the 20th century. The organization's structure and operations were similar to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and it disbanded shortly after the UIL admitted black high schools in the 1960s. A number of former PVIL football players were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after successful professional careers.
