Markus Stockhausen
Markus Stockhausen (born 2 May 1957) is a German trumpeter and composer. His recordings and performances have typically alternated between jazz and chamber or opera music, the latter often in collaboration with his father, composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. Biography Born in Cologne, West Germany, he is the son of composer Karlheinz Stockhausen and the pianist and pedagogue Doris Stockhausen. At age four he appeared as "child at play" in his father's theatre piece '' Originale''. He received his first piano lessons at age six, and at age twelve he began to play the trumpet. He attended the music secondary school in Cologne. Concerts and festival appearances, also for the Goethe Institute, have taken him around the world. In November 2008 he gave the first performance of ''Freedom Variations'', a composition for trumpet and chamber ensemble written by Italian composer Lorenzo Ferrero. Doris Stockhausen
Doris Gertrud Johanna Stockhausen (; 1924 – 20 June 2023) was the early muse and first wife of Karlheinz Stockhausen, who dedicated several compositions to her, beginning in 1950 with ''Chöre für Doris'' before they were married. After they separated she taught piano. Life Doris Gertrud Johanna Andreae was born in Hamburg, the daughter of shipbuilder Max Andreae (1887–1973) and his wife Emmi Alwine, née Blohm (1890–1931). She studied piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Musikhochschule Köln, where she met Karlheinz Stockhausen, who also studied there. They were engaged in August 1951. Doris was raised Protestant, but converted to Roman Catholicism to prepare for her wedding. Rainer Brüninghaus (born 21 November 1949) is a German jazz pianist, composer and university teacher. Career He was born in Bad Pyrmont, Lower Saxony, Germany. Rainer Brüninghaus was educated in classical piano, playing from the age of nine, and founded his first jazz trio when he was 16. From 1968 to 1972, he studied sociology at the University of Cologne and music from 1971 to 1975. In 1970, he founded the experimental jazz rock group Eiliff, which recorded two albums and one single. In 1973, he joined the band of German jazz guitarist Volker Kriegel. Nocturne Records was an American jazz record company and label founded in 1954 by Roy Harte, a drummer, and Harry Babasin, a bassist. Based in Hollywood, California, Nocturne concentrated on West Coast jazz. On March 28, 1955, Nocturne merged with Liberty Records, Liberty and issued the Nocturne catalog under the Liberty label, as the "Jazz in Hollywood" series. ACT is a German record label founded in 1992 by Siegfried Loch. It is a division of ACT Music + Vision founded by Loch and Annette Humpe in 1988. ACT started as a pop music label but folded soon after it started. Loch turned it into a jazz label, at first reissuing music he had recorded for Liberty, Philips, and WEA before turning to new recordings. ACT's first release was the album ''Jazzpaña'' by Vince Mendoza and Arif Mardin and featured Michael Brecker, Al Di Meola, and Steve Khan. EMI Classics was a record label founded by Thorn EMI in 1990 to reduce the need to create country-specific packaging and catalogues for internationally distributed classical music releases. After Thorn EMI demerged in 1996, its recorded music division became the EMI Music Group. Following the European Commission's approval of the takeover of EMI Music Group by Universal Music Group in September 2012, EMI Classics was listed for divestment. The label was sold to Warner Music Group, which absorbed EMI Classics into Warner Classics in 2013.
