Markus Lanz
Markus Lanz (born 16 March 1969) is an Italian television presenter based in Germany. Early life Lanz is a member of the German-speaking majority in the Italian province of South Tyrol. He grew up in Geiselsberg, a village located 1,344 metres above sea level in the central Alps. Lanz stated that his family was poor, and that his father died at an early age, leaving his mother to care for three children. His good school grades earned him a scholarship to the monastery of Neustift, where he went to private Catholic secondary school. He finished high school at the Humanistisches Gymnasium in Bruneck in 1988 and completed military service as a radio operator in the alpine division of the Italian army before working at the radio station ''Radio Holiday''. Bruneck
Bruneck (; or Ladin language, Ladin: ''Bornech'' or ''Burnech''; or ''Brunopolis'') is the largest town in the Puster Valley in the Italy, Italian province of South Tyrol. Geography Bruneck rises up in the middle of a wide valley (perhaps an ancient lake basin) and lies at the confluence of the Ahr (South Tyrol), Ahr with the Rienz, which itself flows into the Eisack river.
