Market Research Society
The Market Research Society (MRS) is a professional body for market research based in London, England. It was established in 1946 at the offices of the London Press Exchange. It represents the views of its members to government and in the press. MRS recognise 5,000 individual members and over 500 accredited Company Partners in over 50 countries. As the regulator, they promote the highest professional standards throughout the sector via the MRS Code of Conduct. MRS is the world’s largest association serving those with professional equity in provision or use of market, social and opinion research, and in business intelligence, market analysis, customer insight and consultancy. In 2015, it jointly ran an inquiry with the British Polling Council into the failings of polling before the British general election of that year. London Press Exchange
The London Press Exchange was founded in 1892 by Frederick Higginbottom and Reginald J.Sykes, becoming a significant Government advertising agency during World War II. It merged with the Leo Burnett agency in 1969. The agency also produced promotional work for the 1921 film '' Elsie and the Brown Bunny'', and advertising posters for the 1951 Festival of Britain. British Polling Council
The British Polling Council (BPC) is an association of market research companies whose opinion polls are regularly published or broadcast in media in the United Kingdom. The current President is Jane Green. The BPC was established in 2004, twelve years after the perceived failure of opinion polls to come close to predicting the actual result of the 1992 general election. Gerald Goodhardt
Gerald Goodhardt (5 April 1930 - 7 May 2020) was a British marketing scientist. Career Goodhardt began his career working as a statistician for Attwood Panels, and later Aske Research with Andrew S. C. Ehrenberg. From 1981-95 he was Sir John E Cohen Professor of Consumer Studies at The City University Business School. Apart from being the Chairman of the Board at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science, Gerald Goodhardt was Emeritus Professor, City University; Visiting Professor, Kingston University and also a Visiting Research Associate, South Bank University.
