Mark-Age
Mark-Age (formerly Mark-Age MetaCenter) is an American UFO religion. It was founded in 1962 in Miami, Florida by Pauline Sharpe (Nada-Yolanda) and Charles Boyd Gentzel (Mark). Its headquarters later moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the 1970s and then Pioneer, Tennessee by the 2000s. The group incorporates New Age, UFO contactee, and Theosophical elements. Mark-Age believes itself to be a contact point with extraterrestrials who govern the Solar System, and believe in an alien-assisted Second Coming. It was one of the most significant and largest contactee groups. Founded after the founders claimed to receive a spiritual message in the 1950s, members believe in channeling messages which are supposedly communicated through telepathy and automatic writing. Gloria Lee
Gloria Lee Byrd (March 22, 1926 – December 2, 1962) was an American airline flight attendant who was one of the most prominent figures of the contactee movement in the 1960s. She founded and lead the Cosmon Research Foundation, headquartered in Torrance, California. Lee claimed to receive automatic writing and later telepathic communications from a Venusian entity named J. W.; she wrote two books which she claimed she was dictated. Her group had up to 2000 members. Lee held talks on flying saucers and was described as a "space cultist" or cult leader by some press outlets. As a result of her claims husband urged her to see a psychiatrist in 1959, resulting in her being diagnosed with paranoia, after which she refused consultations. After she visited Washington, D.C., in an effort for politicians to take her seriously, they did not, and she died in a hunger strike out of protest. New Religious Movement
A new religious movement (NRM), also known as a new religion, is a religious or Spirituality, spiritual group that has modern origins and is peripheral to its society's dominant religious culture. NRMs can be novel in origin, or they can be part of a wider religion, in which case they are distinct from pre-existing Religious denomination, denominations. Some NRMs deal with the challenges that the modernizing world poses to them by embracing individualism, while other NRMs deal with them by embracing tightly knit collective means. Scholars have estimated that NRMs number in the tens of thousands worldwide. Theosophy
Theosophy is a religious movement established in the United States in the late 19th century. Founded primarily by the Russian Helena Blavatsky and based largely on her writings, it draws heavily from both older European philosophies such as Neoplatonism and Indian religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. Although many adherents maintain that Theosophy is not a religion, it is variably categorized by Religious studies, religious scholars as both a new religious movement and a form of occultism from within Western esotericism. Khufu
Khufu or Cheops (died 2566 BC) was an ancient Egyptian monarch who was the second pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt, Fourth Dynasty, in the first half of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, Old Kingdom period (26th century BC). Mediumship is the practice of purportedly mediating communication between familiar spirits or ghost, spirits of the dead and living human beings. Ascended masters, also known as Mahatmas, are believed in several theosophical and related spiritual traditions to be spiritually enlightened beings who in past incarnations were ordinary humans.
