Marjorie Fair
Marjorie Fair is an indie rock/psychedelic United States, American band formed in New Jersey by musician Evan Slamka, and based in Los Angeles, California. The band is best known for their debut album ''Self Help Serenade'', released in 2004 on Capitol Records. Marjorie Fair's melodic psychedelia has been compared to Mercury Rev, Pernice Brothers, The Beach Boys, Grandaddy, Elliott Smith and the solo works of Jon Brion, who contributed parts to ''Self Help Serenade''. Following the release of ''Self Help Serenade'' in the UK on May 31, 2004, Marjorie Fair toured Europe and opened for acts including Modest Mouse and Doves (band), Doves. Marjorie Fair played a series of West Coast residencies in the fall, while awaiting Capitol to release their album stateside. The album did not end up being released in the United States until July 19, 2005 and was supported by a U.S. tours. Doves (band)
Doves are an English indie rock band, formed in Wilmslow, Cheshire in 1998. The band is composed of singer and bassist Jimi Goodwin and twin brothers, guitarist Jez Williams, Jez and drummer Andy Williams (Doves), Andy Williams. The band released six studio albums between 2000 and 2025, three of which reached #1 on the UK album charts. A compilation album, ''The Places Between: The Best of Doves'', was released in April 2010. Doves went on hiatus in 2010. During this time, Goodwin released his first solo album, ''Odludek'' (2014), while the Williams brothers regrouped as Black Rivers. In December 2018, Doves announced they were ending their hiatus by performing for the Teenage Cancer Trust at London's Royal Albert Hall on 29 March 2019. Jon Joseph Waronker (born May 20, 1969) is an American drummer and music producer. He has performed with acts including Beck, R.E.M., Oasis and Roger Waters, and is a member of the experimental rock bands Atoms for Peace and Ultraísta. Background Waronker was born in Los Angeles, the son of producer and former Warner Bros. Records President Lenny Waronker, and actress and musician Donna Loren. He has two sisters (one being musician Anna Waronker) and two half-sisters. His grandfather was classical violinist Simon Waronker, namesake for the Simon character in the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise. Joey was a student of Freddie Gruber. Mellowdrone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1999. Biography Mellowdrone originated as Jonathan Bates' solo project, but expanded to a full band with Tony DeMatteo (guitar and keyboards), Scott Ellis (drums) and Greg Griffith (bass). Griffith and Ellis were later replaced by Camila Gutierrez and Brian Borg respectively. The band's music encompasses a range of styles from lo-fi, indie rock and experimental.
