Mario Caldato, Jr
Mario Caldato Jr. (born February 24, 1961), also known as Mario C., is a Brazilian-born record producer and studio engineer best known for his work with Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson in the US, Marcelo D2 and Seu Jorge in Brazil. Early life Caldato was born in São Paulo, Brazil. When he was two years old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Caldato began playing keyboards as a youth and took classical music lessons. Career In 1986, Caldato met DJ Matt Dike at Los Angeles nightclub Power Tools. At Dike's request, Caldato built a recording studio in Dike's apartment, where he engineered and co-produced Tone Loc and Young MC's hit singles and albums. In 1988, Caldato began his long-term professional association with Beastie Boys when he engineered their second album, '' Paul's Boutique''. ''Paul's Boutique'' is the second studio album by the American hip hop group Beastie Boys, released on July 25, 1989, by Capitol Records. Produced by the Beastie Boys and the Dust Brothers, the album's composition makes extensive use of samples, drawn from a wide range of genres including funk, soul, rock, and jazz. It was recorded over two years at Matt Dike's apartment and the Record Plant in Los Angeles. ''Paul's Boutique'' did not match the sales of the group's 1986 debut '' Licensed to Ill'', and was promoted minimally by Capitol. Day One is an English band from Bristol, formed in 1998, and consisting of Phelim Byrne and Matthew Hardwidge. The band was originally signed to Virgin/Melancolik, the record label started by Massive Attack. Their début album, ''Ordinary Man'', was released in 2000. Music from the LP was used in film soundtracks such as ''Cruel Intentions'', '' The Big Tease'' and TV productions such as '' Six Feet Under'', ''Trigger Happy TV'' and advertising campaigns including Adidas and Caterpillar. The Cult
The Cult are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Bradford in 1983. Before settling on their current name in January 1984, the band had performed under the name Death Cult, which was an evolution of the name of lead vocalist Ian Astbury's previous band Southern Death Cult. Cibo Matto
Cibo Matto (, Italian language, Italian for "crazy food") was an American alternative rock band formed by Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori in New York City in 1994. Their first album, ''Viva! La Woman'' (1996), had lyrics primarily concerned with food. For their second album, ''Stereo Type A'' (1999), they expanded into broader subject matter and recruited Sean Lennon, Timo Ellis, and Duma Love. Honda and Hatori are Japanese expatriates. Their first album sold 40,000 copies in Japan, but was more successful in the U.S., with over 74,000 copies sold. Over time, their following in Japan grew, which resulted in their signing to Japanese record label Commmons in 2014. After an almost decade-long hiatus, Honda and Hatori reunited in 2011, playing a series of concerts and recording new material. Blur are an English rock band formed in London in 1988. The band consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James, and drummer Dave Rowntree. Mark Ramos Nishita (born February 10, 1960), known professionally as Money Mark, is an American producer and musician, best known for his collaborations with the Beastie Boys from 1992 until 2011. Early life Born in Detroit to a Japanese-Hawaiian father and a Chicana mother, Nishita moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, when he was six years old. Wendell Timothy Fite, also known as DJ Hurricane (born January 12, 1965) is an American hip hop DJ, producer and rapper. He is best known for his work with the Beastie Boys. He was a member of the groups Solo Sounds and The Afros and recorded three solo albums, featuring many well-known artists such as Xzibit, Public Enemy, Kool G Rap, Black Thought, Papoose and Talib Kweli.
