Day One (band)
Day One is an English band from Bristol, formed in 1998, and consisting of Phelim Byrne and Matthew Hardwidge. The band was originally signed to Virgin/Melancolik, the record label started by Massive Attack. Their début album, ''Ordinary Man'', was released in 2000. Music from the LP was used in film soundtracks such as ''Cruel Intentions'', '' The Big Tease'' and TV productions such as '' Six Feet Under'', ''Trigger Happy TV'' and advertising campaigns including Adidas and Caterpillar. Their second album, ''Probably Art'', was released in October 2007. The song "Bad Before Good", from ''Probably Art'', was featured in an episode of the second season of '' Skins'', and the US film ''Easy A''. Their song "Cosmopolita" appeared on the US series ''Cashmere Mafia''. Bowers & Wilkins, commonly known as B&W, is a British company that produces consumer and professional loudspeakers and headphones. The company was founded in 1966 in Worthing, West Sussex, England. In October 2020, it was acquired by Sound United, a holding company who owns several other audio brands. History Early years Bowers & Wilkins began as a radio and electronics shop in Worthing. It was started after World War II by John Bowers & Roy Wilkins, who had met while serving in the Royal Corps of Signals during the war. Beastie Boys
The Beastie Boys were an American Hip-hop, hip hop and Rap rock, rap rock group formed in New York City in 1979. They were composed of Ad-Rock, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar), Adam Yauch, Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Mike D, Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums). The Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band the Young Aborigines, which was formed in 1979, with Diamond on drums, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry (Beastie Boys), John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach later joining on percussion. Mario Caldato Jr. (born February 24, 1961), also known as Mario C., is a Brazilian-born record producer and studio engineer best known for his work with Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson in the US, Marcelo D2 and Seu Jorge in Brazil. Early life Caldato was born in São Paulo, Brazil. When he was two years old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Caldato began playing keyboards as a youth and took classical music lessons. Career In 1986, Caldato met DJ Matt Dike at Los Angeles nightclub Power Tools. At Dike's request, Caldato built a recording studio in Dike's apartment, where he engineered and co-produced Tone Loc and Young MC's hit singles and albums.
