''Marens lille ugle'' ( en, Maren's Little Owl) is a Norwegian children's book from 1957, written by Finn Havrevold. The story is about the young girl Maren and her rag owl, which needs comfort when Maren is anxious. Finn Havrevold
Finn Havrevold (11 August 1905 – 18 February 1988) was a Norwegian novelist, short story writer, children's writer, playwright, illustrator and theatre critic. Personal life Havrevold was born in Kristiania as the son of wholesaler Lauritz Paulsen Havrevold and Marta Malena Nielsen. He was a brother of actor Olafr Havrevold and psychiatrist Odd Havrevold. He was married to journalist Gunvor Øwre. Career Havrevold was educated as architect, graduating from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1929. In the 1930s he worked as a freelance book illustrator. He made his literary debut in 1939 with the short story collection ''Det raker ikke Andersen'', about juvenile loneliness and uncertainty. His novel ''Til de dristige'' from 1946 describes a war hero who lost his girlfriend to his brother during the war. Norwegian ( no, norsk, links=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is an official language. Ugler I Mosen
''Ugler i mosen'' is a 1959 Norwegian mystery and adventure family film directed by Ivo Caprino. The title, which literally means 'Owls in the Moss', is based on the idiom ''det er ugler i mosen'' 'I smell a rat; there is mischief afoot'. The film was written by Caprino as an adaptation of Finn Havrevold's children's book ''Marens lille ugle'' (Maren's Little Owl). The leading role was played by 12-year-old Grethe Nilsen, and the film also featured Sverre Hansen, Turid Balke, Kjetil Bang-Hansen, Egil Hjorth-Jenssen and Aud Schønemann. Ivo Caprino (17 February 1920 – 8 February 2001) was a Norwegian film director and writer, best known for his puppet films. His most noted film, '' Flåklypa Grand Prix'' ("Pinchcliffe Grand Prix"), was made in 1975. Early life Caprino was born 17 February 1920 in Oslo, the son of Italian furniture designer Mario Caprino and the artist, Ingeborg "Ingse" Caprino nee Gude, who was a granddaughter of the painter Hans Gude. Ingse Gude was a watercolorist, illustrator, puppet maker, and author, born in Oybin, Saxony. The Caprinos divorced around 1927, and Ingse married the painter Bernhard Folkestad. After his death, she lived with the painter and art critic, Pola Gauguin. Early career In the mid-1940s, Caprino helped his mother design puppets for a puppet theatre, which inspired him to try making a film using his mother's designs.
