Vanessa Marcil ( ; born October 15, 1968) is an American actress. She is best known for her television roles as Brenda Barrett on ''General Hospital'', Gina Kincaid on ''Beverly Hills, 90210'', and Sam Marquez on ''Las Vegas (TV series), Las Vegas''. Early life Marcil, the youngest of four children, was born in Indio, California, to Patricia Marcil, a Herbal medicine, herbalist, and Pete Ortiz, a contractor and self-made millionaire. Champlain Marcil (19202010) was a French Canadian photojournalist best known for being the photographer of the daily newspaper ''Le Droit'' from 1948 to 1969. In addition, he was active from 1940 to 1985 in depicting the Outaouais region of western Quebec and Ontario. Personal life Marcil was born in Ottawa in June 1920 to Rose-Alba Carle and Roméo R. Marcil. He was one of nine children. Marcil married Pauline Vachon in 1947, and they had five children. He died in 2010 and is interred in Notre-Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. He was a life member of the University of Ottawa, and a member of various Christian organizations. Career He began his career as a professional photographer in 1940, recording the Eucharistic Congress at Trois-Rivières. Charles Marcil
Charles Marcil, (July 1, 1860 – January 29, 1937) was a longtime member of the House of Commons of Canada and served as Speaker of the House from 1909 to 1911. He was first elected to the House of Commons as a Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) in the 1900 election and represented the riding of Bonaventure Quebec in the Gaspé Peninsula without interruption until his death in 1937. Marcil was born to a French-Canadian father and Irish mother. His father's family settled in New France around 1665. Growing up in the Ottawa- Hull area, he served as a House of Commons page, then went on to work as a journalist for the ''Montreal Gazette'' and several other newspapers. Serge Marcil (January 20, 1944 – January 12, 2010) was an educator, administrator and politician in Quebec, Canada. After studying to be a teacher in Montreal, Marcil obtained work at various secondary schools as an administrator. He also served on his local city council in the early 1980s before entering the Quebec National Assembly as a Liberal Member of the National Assembly (MNA) in the 1985 Quebec provincial election in the riding of Beauharnois. He was re-elected in 1989, and became parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Labour in the Bourassa government. In 1994, he joined the provincial cabinet of Daniel Johnson as Minister of Employment, but both he and the Liberal government were defeated in the 1994 provincial election. Simon Marcil is a former Canadian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Mirabel from 2015 to 2021. Marcil was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 election as a member of the Bloc Québécois. On February 28, 2018, however, Marcil, along with six other Bloc MPs, resigned from the Bloc's caucus to sit as an independent MP citing conflicts with the leadership style of Martine Ouellet. Following Ouellet's resignation, he rejoined the party on June 6, 2018. He was re-elected in the 2019 federal election.
