Manuel V. Pangilinan
Manuel Velez Pangilinan (born July 14, 1946), also known as Manny Pangilinan or by his initials MVP, is a Filipino people, Filipino businessman and sports patron. He is the managing director and CEO of First Pacific, a Hong Kong–based investment management and holding company with operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Pangilinan is also the chairman for First Pacific's investments in the Philippines, including the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, PLDT, and Philex Mining Corporation. He is the chairman emeritus of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and served as its first president for two consecutive terms, from 2007 to 2018. Pangilinan is the current chairman and benefactor of his alma mater San Beda University on Mendiola Street, Mendiola St., Manila. The Order of Lakandula () is one of the highest civilian orders of the Philippines, established on September 19, 2003. It is awarded for political and civic merit and in memory of Lakandula’s dedication to the responsibilities of leadership, prudence, fortitude, courage and resolve in the service of one’s people. The Meralco Bolts is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association. The team began in 2010 after the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) acquired the PBA franchise of the Sta. The TNT Tropang 5G is a professional basketball team currently owned by Smart Communications, a subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) since 1990.
