Manuel Hauzinger
Manuel Hauzinger (born 3 December 1982, in Vienna, Austria) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Austria. He is an eight times champion of Austria. Career He rode in the United Kingdom for the Berwick Bandits in the Premier League. He also rode for the Swindon Robins in the Elite League, replacing Theo Pijper. He made a memorable debut for Swindon against the Eastbourne Eagles, where he scored 8 points and beat Grand Prix star Scott Nicholls. Hauzinger has won the Austrian National Championship eight times (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010) and represented Austria in the 2004 Speedway World Cup. He also won the 2007 Argentine Championship. Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October. Each team had a designated race day on which they normally staged their home fixtures, and they regularly had home and away fixtures scheduled in the same week. The Elite League operated for 20 years until British speedway was restructured with the formation of the SGB Premiership and SGB Championship. The European Pairs Speedway Championship is an annual speedway event held in different countries organized by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) since 2004. Individual Speedway European Championship
The Individual Speedway European Championship is an annual individual speedway event organized by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) to determine the champion of Europe. The competition was founded in 2001 and was initially staged as a one-off meeting before the single event was replaced by the Speedway European Championship series in 2012. History From 1955 to 1975, the European Final was staged as the final qualifying round for the World Speedway Championship, although this did not include British riders who had a separate qualifying round. The European Championships were inaugurated in 2001, organised by European Motorcycle Union (UEM). In 2012 this was replaced by a series of four finals. Regardless of that, ISEC was struggling with prestige and promotion and the best European riders were mostly avoiding this contest. The 2004 Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 4th FIM Speedway World Cup season. The Final took place on 7 August 2004 in Poole, Great Britain. Speedway World Cup
The Speedway World Cup is an annual speedway event held each year in different countries. The first edition of the competition in the current format was held in 2001 and replaced the old World Team Cup which ran from 1960 until 2000. The last edition was in 2017. From 2018, the World Cup was replaced by the Speedway of Nations, which effectively brought back the pairs format. However, in 2023 the World Cup will return. Format The final tournament usually lasted for about a week with four meetings held in six or seven days. It started with two first round "events", each consisting of four national teams. The winners of these events qualified automatically for the final, while those who finished second and third competed in the race-off. Last place finishers were eliminated. The top two in the race-off joined the event winners in the final.
