Manuel Barreto
Manuel Francisco Barreto Sayán (born 12 September 1982) is a Peruvian football coach and former player who played as a striker. He is the current sporting director of Universitario. Barreto was born in Lima, Peru. He began his professional career at the age of 16 with Universitario de Deportes in 1998. Barreto's debut in the Peruvian First Division was against Lawn Tennis Fútbol Club, where he managed to score one of the four goals scored by Universitario that game. He had a short spell at APOEL on 2007, in which he won the Cypriot Championship. The 2008 Torneo Descentralizado (known as the Copa Cable Mágico for sponsorship reasons) was the ninety-second season of Peruvian football. A total of 14 teams competed in the tournament, with Universidad San Martín defending their national title. The season began on February 17, 2008 and ended on December 14, 2008. Competition modus The season was divided into two tournaments; Torneo Apertura from February to July and the Torneo Clausura from July to December. Both tournaments had the fourteen teams play a round-robin home-and-away round for a total of 26 matches in each tournament. The 2006–07 Cypriot First Division was the 68th season of the Cypriot top-level football league. APOEL won their 19th title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 2006–07 Cypriot First Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The last three teams were relegated to the 2007–08 Cypriot Second Division. The champions ensured their participation in the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League and the runners-up in the 2007–08 UEFA Cup.
