Manley Laboratories
Manley Laboratories, Inc. is an American manufacturer of pro audio and high-end audio equipment located in Chino, California. The first Manley-branded products were introduced in 1989, with Manley Laboratories becoming an independent company in 1993. Manley's products include microphones, signal processors, dynamic range processors, equalizers, converters, specialized mastering products, tube audio amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and preamplifiers. History Recording and film engineer David Manley began designing high fidelity vacuum tube amplifiers in South Africa in 1980. The earliest units he produced were modified LEAK amplifiers. In 1983, the first Vacuum Tube Logic (VTL) tube power amplifiers and preamplifiers went into full-fledged production in the UK for the European market. David, joined by his son Luke introduced the amplifiers to the US market at the 1986 Consumer Electronics Show, where the positive reception convinced them to expand their distribution to the ...

Valve Audio Amplifier
A valve audio amplifier ( UK) or vacuum tube audio amplifier ( US) is a valve amplifier used for sound reinforcement, sound recording and reproduction. Until the invention of solid state devices such as the transistor, all electronic amplification was produced by valve (tube) amplifiers. While solid-state devices prevail in most audio amplifiers today, valve audio amplifiers are still used where their audible characteristics are considered pleasing, for example in music performance or music reproduction. Instrument and vocal amplification Valve amplifiers for guitars (and to a lesser degree vocals and other applications) have different purposes from those of hi-fi amplifiers. The purpose is not necessarily to reproduce sound as accurately as possible, but rather to fulfill the musician's concept of what the sound should be. For example, distortion is almost universally considered undesirable in hi-fi amplifiers but may be considered a desirable characteristic in performance. ...

Vacuum Tube
A vacuum tube, electron tube, thermionic valve (British usage), or tube (North America) is a device that controls electric current flow in a high vacuum between electrodes to which an electric voltage, potential difference has been applied. It takes the form of an evacuated tubular envelope of glass or sometimes metal containing electrodes connected to external connection pins. The type known as a thermionic tube or thermionic valve utilizes thermionic emission of electrons from a hot cathode for fundamental Electronics, electronic functions such as signal amplifier, amplification and current Rectifier, rectification. Non-thermionic types such as vacuum phototubes achieve electron emission through the photoelectric effect, and are used for such purposes as the detection of light and measurement of its intensity. In both types the electrons are accelerated from the cathode to the anode by the electric field in the tube. The first, and simplest, vacuum tube, the diode or Flem ...

Audio Plug-in
An audio plug-in, in computer software, is a Plug-in (computing), plug-in that can add or enhance audio-related functions in a computer program, typically a digital audio workstation. Such functions may include digital signal processing or sound synthesis. Audio plug-ins usually provide their own user interface, which often contains GUI widget, graphical user interface (GUI) widgets that can be used to control and visualize the plug-in's audio parameters. Types There are three broad classes of audio plug-in: those which transform existing audio samples, those which generate new audio samples through Synthesizer, sound synthesis, and those which analyze existing Digital signal processing#Signal sampling, audio samples. Although all plug-in types can technically perform audio analysis, only specific formats provide a mechanism for analysis data to be returned to the host. Instances The program used to Dynamic loading, dynamically load audio plug-ins is called a plug-in host. Exam ...
