Man With No Name (musician)
Martin Freeland is a British psytrance artist, record producer and DJ, who has performed under the pseudonym of Man With No Name since 1990. He is best known for the singles "Teleport" and "Floor-Essence", both of which appeared in the UK Singles Chart. Music career Early work: 1985–1993 Freeland's career began in the mid 1980s, working as a producer and remixer for various dance artists such as Belouis Some and Mirage. In the late 1980s he began producing original material under the names of Positiv Noize, Perfectly Ordinary People and Pisces, with the latter experimenting with the sound of techno with the single "Take Me Higher". In 1990 Freeland released the single "Way Out West" under the name of Man With No Name. The track sampled lines from the western film, ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'', and was backed with the acid house track "From Within The Mind of My 909", which was later featured on Richard Sen's 2012 compilation ''This Ain't Chicago: The Underground Sound ... Goa Trance
Goa trance is an electronic dance music style that originated in the early 1990s in the Indian state of Goa. Goa trance often has drone-like basslines, similar to the techno minimalism of 21st century psychedelic trance (psytrance). Psychedelic trance developed from Goa trance. The typically long songs built on progressive beat changes are said to put the listener in a “trance”. Positiva Records is a subsidiary of Universal Music Group and concentrates on releasing dance music in the United Kingdom, UK. Human League
The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Initially an experimental electronic music, electronic outfit, the group signed to Virgin Records in 1979 and later attained widespread commercial success with their third album ''Dare (album), Dare'' in 1981 after restructuring their lineup. Paul Van Dyk
Matthias Paul (; born 16 December 1971), known professionally as Paul van Dyk () is a German DJ, record producer and musician. Van Dyk was the first artist to receive a Grammy Award nomination in the newly added category of Best Dance/Electronic album for his 2003 release '' Reflections''. He was the first DJ to be named number one by ''Mixmag'' in 2005. By 2008, he had sold over 3 million albums worldwide. A trance producer starting in the early 1990s, van Dyk quickly achieved popularity with his remix of "Love Stimulation" by Humate on the record label MFS in 1993 and with his hit single " For an Angel". Nick Fryer (born 1979 or 1980), better known as Nick Sentience, is a British electronic dance music disc jockey and hard dance music producer from Portsmouth, England. He is known for his fusion of music genres including techno, hard house, and trance. Several of his releases have charted in the United Kingdom. Career Nick Fryer grew up in Portsmouth, England, and began DJing at the age of 15. He was originally part of a music production group called Sentience with Martin Dawson and Tom Neville; the group's debut CD ''An Eye For An I'' was released on Nukleuz in 1998, with some tracks from the album eventually appearing in the video game '' Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now''. The group disbanded soon after, and Fryer adopted the group's name as his own. At age 18 he was signed to Nukleuz. Avi Shmailov () known by his stage name Astrix, is an Israeli trance music DJ and producer. His specialty lies in the subgenre of progressive psychedelic trance. In 2006, Astrix achieved the 41st position in DJMag's "Top 100 DJs" annual ranking, alongside several other Israeli musicians, with Infected Mushroom ranking the highest at #9. Psychedelic trance, psytrance, or psy is a subgenre of trance music characterized by arrangements of rhythms and layered melodies created by high tempo riffs. Hooj Choons is a house record label co-founded in 1990 by Alex Simons and Red Jerry (real name Jeremy Dickens). The first release was "Carnival da Casa" by Rio Rhythm Band, however, it was not until the 1992 release of Felix (dance music), Felix's "Don't You Want Me", which Red Jerry and Faithless founder-member Rollo Armstrong, Rollo co-produced, that Hooj Choons had their first crossover hit. Over the next ten years, Hooj Choons had several notable releases including productions from artists such as Diss-Cuss, Tilt (producers), Tilt, Oliver Lieb and JX (artist), JX. The label built up a roster of popular club hits, some with widespread commercial success, and smaller underground classics over 20 years.
